It’s about vision, not tribalism. The vision needs to be so compelling that no one cares about Republican, Independent or Democrat.

I'm looking for someone that would like to take over CA5Unite website, Facebook group and this page. When Barney moved to Colorado, Joel Ellinwood asked if I would take this on. I agreed to do it and paid the annual fees for the CA5Unite.org website and email address, but I just haven't had time to really focus on it.

CA5Unite has a lot of potential. It was meant to be a way for disparate groups to collaborate on projects that affect the entire Congressional District 5. We need someone that is willing to work with member or affiliated groups to get their events listed, articles posted, etc.

CA5Unite is listed with Indivisible.

To maintain the website, some experience with WordPress would be handy, but it is pretty much as easy as using Microsoft Word or Apple Pages apps.

If you are someone that likes to write articles about progressive issues, work with other groups to collaborate on getting good candidates elected and rally support, this might be just the thing for you. Please DM me if you are interested.

Thank you!

Today’s “1st Saturday” monthly rally on SR 49 in Martell.

06/05/2026

Just a quick reminder. We are having our Pro-Democracy rally on Saturday, June 6th from 11:30 AM till 1:00 PM at our usual place on the corner of Hwy 49 and Industry Blvd in Martell. That's the corner with Jack-In-The-Box and McDonalds. I might be hot so bring water to stay hydrated and a hat or something to keep you cool. Although, I'd say, Democrats are "cool". Bring your signs and let's have a good time. We need to keep HOPE alive.
Some people have said they heard that there would be a No Kings rally on June 14th. If you check the No Kings webpage you will find that they are calling for watch parties but no rallies. So we will have our rally on June 6th and that will be it for June.
Now normally we have our rallies on the first Saturday of the month. In July, the first Saturday is July 4th (Independence Day). So I am moving our Pro-Democracy rally to the following Saturday, July 11th. This rally will replace our normal club meeting at Round Table Pizza. Do you think we should have this rally from 11:40 till 1:00 or wait till it get cooler and have the rally from 4:30 till 6? or some other time? What do you think? We've got time to figure that out.

We need a whole series of these! There really is no comparison between these two candidates. We need to show the contrast between now and November until everyone in District 5 has seen them.

Only 2 days left!! Who are you voting for?

Don't forget to return your ballot today!

I'm a little surprised at the defeatist comments I've been reading about Michael Masuda's chances of winning the general election, which become self-fulling. Why give up so easily? A lot of people don't vote in the primaries. Trump's approval rating is sinking like the Titanic and out of life boats. We need to tie McClintock to Trump and let them go down together.

Congratulations to Jaron Brandon, looking good!

Imagine if Dan Stroud, Mike Barkley, Paul Danbom and Kate Sills were to help Michael Masuda between now and November, Tom McClintock, who represents the insurance industry and not the people of District 5, will be history.

Finally, a way to pull the rug out from under Citizens United?

Hawaii just made history, becoming the first state in the nation to effectively ban dark money in elections. The new law takes a novel approach: rather than ...
