⚠️ Heads up, Katie Wheeler Library patrons!

There will be limited parking at Katie Wheeler Library over the next two weekends due to slurry seal work in the Irvine Ranch Historic Park parking lot.

The County will be conducting work on the lot surrounding the library March 20–22 and March 27–29, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each weekend, a portion of the lot will be closed, with an adjacent portion remaining open for visitor parking. Additional parking will be available within the park along Old Myford Road and Old Irvine Boulevard. Please follow directional signage when visiting us.

This Saturday, the Katie Wheeler Public Library reopens its doors under the new Irvine Public Library System.

Katie Wheeler was more than a namesake. She remained actively involved in Orange County civic life for decades and played a meaningful role in the community’s history.

This short video also offers a preview of Episode 2 of The Story of Irvine, which returns to Irvine Ranch Historic Park — where Katie’s story begins.

Yes — you can borrow seeds from the library. Choose from heirloom and seasonal varieties and be part of a shared seed system that supports sustainable growing and community connection.

🌼 How it works:
Browse the seed drawers and pick up to three packets per month, one per variety
Stop by the Borrower Services Desk to check them out
Plant, grow, and enjoy—no returns required

Start small, grow something new, and see what sprouts.

The Seed Library will be available at Katie Wheeler Library beginning March 8.
