At the 32nd Annual Economic Forecast Conference, hosted by the Orange County Business Council and Cal State Fullerton, I had the opportunity to hear from Dr. Anil Puri and Dr. Mira Farka about the economic trends shaping Orange County and the broader region.

For Irvine, these conversations matter because changes in the economy show up locally in very real ways, from whether businesses are expanding and hiring to how families are managing everyday costs and how our City plans for future growth. Understanding those trends helps us better support a strong local economy while keeping our City a place where businesses and residents can thrive.

Thank you to OCBC and CSUF for bringing together leaders from across the region for a thoughtful, data-driven conversation about what may be ahead for Orange County.

Labor leaders, academics, elected officials and community members came together to talk about migration, the experiences of immigrant workers and students, and the many economic and social connections between Guanajuato and Orange County. I appreciated the discussion about how migration affects families and communities on both sides of the border, including the unique experiences of women, and the importance of continued collaboration among government, labor and our universities.

Thank you to the UCI Labor Center and Orange County Labor Federation for bringing everyone together.

What a way to celebrate 25 years of the Irvine Global Village Festival! 🌍✨

This year’s festival brought Irvine together for a day full of music, dance, art, international flavors and hands-on cultural experiences from around the world. It was wonderful to see so many neighbors come out to share traditions, discover something new and celebrate the diversity that makes Irvine such a special community.

Thank you to our City staff, performers, volunteers, vendors, community organizations and everyone who helped make this milestone celebration so memorable. Here’s to 25 years of Global Village and more to come.

The Orange County Fire Authority is actively responding to the Norte Fire in South Orange County. As of this update, there are no evacuation orders for Irvine. Evacuation orders are currently affecting areas of San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente.

I encourage Irvine residents to stay informed as conditions can change quickly. For the latest information:

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to an end, I wanted to take one more opportunity to highlight some of the many Latino-owned businesses right here in Irvine. From restaurants and coffee shops to fitness, finance, design, law, auto services and more, Latino entrepreneurs are an important part of Irvine’s local economy and the community we call home.

This list is only a starting point, and I know there are many more businesses worth celebrating. Did we miss one of your favorites? Drop the name of a Latino-owned Irvine business in the comments so our community can check them out!

Hispanic Heritage Month may be over, but celebrating and supporting our local Latino community continues all year long. ❤️

With recent concerns about increased immigration enforcement activity in California, I want to make sure our community knows where to turn for reliable information and support.

The City of Irvine’s Immigration Resource Guide includes information on legal resources, due process support and organizations that may be able to assist residents. The City also provides these resources in multiple languages.

Please take a moment to review the information, know your rights and share these resources with family, friends or neighbors who may need them.

Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day by honoring the rich histories and contributions of Indigenous communities.

Here in Irvine, we celebrate the Acjachemen (Juaneño) and Tongva (Gabrieleño) peoples, the original stewards of the land we call home. Their histories, cultures, and connections to this land continue to enrich our community.

May we continue to listen, learn, and celebrate Indigenous voices and stories. 🧡
