As our firefighters were out and about after the storm, we saw neighbors helping neighbors by clearing limbs from streets and driveways and raking and blowing leaf debris off the roads. 🍂💪

A big thank-you to everyone taking the time to look out for one another and help keep our community safe. That’s what community is all about! ❤️

⚠️ GENERATOR SAFETY: KEEP IT OUTSIDE! ⚠️
Portable generators produce carbon monoxide (CO)—a colorless, odorless gas that can be deadly.

🚫 NEVER operate a generator inside:
• Your home
• Garage or carport
• Basement or crawlspace
• Shed
• Covered porch
• Or any enclosed or partially enclosed space

✅ Keep generators OUTSIDE, 20ft away from doors, windows, and vents. Always direct exhaust away from your home, people, and animals.

🔥 When using a generator, think outside!
A few extra feet can make a life-saving difference.

⚡🔥 CHARGE INTO FIRE SAFETY™

6 CHARGING SAFETY TIPS

Charging devices is part of everyday life—but charging safely can help prevent fires and injuries.

🔌 #1 Cheap charger? Don’t chance it.
Use the cord and charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.

🛋️ #2 Soft surface? Hard pass.
Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or bare floor.

🔋 #3 Fully charged? Time to unplug.
Unplug your device when it is fully charged.

🛴 #4 For tools and rides, charge outside.
When possible, charge e-bikes, scooters, power tools, and other large battery-powered devices outside. Never block an exit while charging.

🌡️ #5 Feels hot? Stop using it.
Stop using a device if it becomes very hot, swells, smells strange, leaks, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds.

✈️ #6 On a flight? Keep it in sight.
Keep devices where you can see them while charging. Do not charge e-ci******es or vapes on an airplane. Tell a flight attendant if you notice a problem with your device.

⚡ Safe charging is a superpower. Charge smart. Charge safe.

🔥 Parents, your voice can help save lives!

Take a moment to remind your children: matches and lighters are NOT toys. If they find them, they should leave them alone and tell an adult right away.

If they see someone playing with fire, encourage them to speak up and get help.

Many fires started by children involve matches, lighters, fireworks, stoves, ci******es, or candles. Together, we can help prevent fires and keep our children and community safe! 🚒

Next week is Fire Prevention Week!

🔌 Before buying any rechargeable devices, scooters, or power banks, check for a mark from a nationally recognized testing lab. Here in the U.S. look for either a UL or ETL on the item. That mark means the product meets national safety standards. Many items sold online aren’t listed and that can increase the risk of fire.
