'Lauren's Journey' is that of a very brave 10 year old girl, who just before Christmas was diagnosed Lauren Alice Foster. Aged 10.
On the 29th December 2011 Lauren was diagnosed as having Rhabdomyosarcoma a cancer which can only affect children. “Fewer than 60 children are diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in the UK each year. Most of them are younger than 10 years old. It is more common in boys than girls. Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common of the soft tissue sarcomas in children. End of an era today with Lauren’s last ever appointment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital with her follow-up care now being transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. We thank the staff for all the support received over the years 🎈

We caught up with a special person today who helped Lauren so much whilst she was receiving treatment at the Proton Clinic. Thank you Reenie - we are glad we have been able to keep in touch with you.

Lauren got to ring her 'End of Treatment' Bell. This was not in place when she finished her treatment before - all Proton patients now get to do this as they see it as a sign of 'closure' to mark the end of their treatments
