This month, we are celebrating 30 years of our Bales Cottage! 💛

Thirty years ago, Childplace recognized a need in our community and took a leap of faith. In October 1966, Bales Cottage for Girls opened its doors as Jeffersonville’s first licensed maternity home for teen mothers and their babies. What began with a grant, a lot of prayer, and a willingness to step out in faith has grown into a program that has provided hope, stability, and new beginnings for young women and their children for three decades.

Today, our Bales Cottage is a 10-bed maternity and transitional living program serving expectant mothers, young mothers with children, and adolescent girls preparing for the next chapter of their lives. As one of only two licensed Teen Mom and Baby programs in Indiana, Bales Cottage continues to meet a critical need, welcoming referrals from across the state. What began as a leap of faith in 1966 has become 30 years of changing lives!

We are incredibly grateful for the staff, supporters, and countless others who have helped make this ministry possible. Most importantly, we celebrate the young women and children whose lives and futures have been touched through Bales Cottage💛

📣This month's staff spotlight goes to A'mya Simpson, one of our licensing specialists!

A'mya has been with Childplace since February of 2026. As a licensing specialist, she works closely with our foster and adoptive families throughout the licensing process. She conducts home visits, writes home studies and annual reviews, and helps families stay on top of their licensing requirements, providing support and guidance along the way.

Help us celebrate A'mya in the comments!🙌
