One of a nine member elected Board, who serve in a legislative role administering all county business. District 3 includes portions of the City of Jersey City.
The Third District of the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders is dire need of Leadership. The current Freeholder Jeffrey Dublin was selected in 2004 by the Democratic Committee of Freeholder District 3 to fill the unexpired term of former Freeholder William Braker. He was elected to a full term in November 2005 and took the oath of office in January 2006 for a term of office that expires on
December 31, 2008. Dublin who ran consecutively, and conveniently on the Democratic Party Line. Since becoming Freeholder, Dublin has chaired the County Government, Oversight and Policy Review Committee as well as the Transportation Committee. He has served as a member of the Public Safety, Department of Corrections and Emergency Management Committee; the Purchasing Committee; the Task Force on the Homeless; Women and Minority Affairs Committee; and as an Alternate to the New Jersey Association of Counties, Hudson County Planning Board, and the Hudson County Improvement Authority. All apparently powerful positions and Dublin has never authored a single piece of legislation to aide the growing dis-proportions of service, let alone leadership in either of these roles. Two thirds of this district comprises of African American Voters and currently encompases Jersey City's Ward A district's 8-22, 31-34. Ward E district's 1,2,3,5, 6, 8, 9, 21. And All of Ward F except for districts 2 and 28. It overlaps the 8th Congressional District and overlays most of the 31 State Legislative Districts.
