Today, the City of Jonesboro was honored to celebrate our dedicated Police Department and Public Works professionals during our First Responders Appreciation Luncheon. Thank you to the men and women who serve our community every day with professionalism, courage, and commitment.

A special thank you to Councilwoman Curney and Councilwoman Fox for their kind words and support as we recognized those who help keep the City of Jonesboro safe, functioning, and thriving.

We also encourage our residents to take a moment to thank a first responder, public safety professional, or Public Works employee for their service. Their dedication often happens behind the scenes, but the impact of their work is felt throughout our community every day.

Today and every day, we are grateful for the individuals who answer the call to serve and help make Jonesboro a stronger, safer, and better place for all.

Good morning, Family ! 🧡

I wanted to share a few updates from the Office of Councilwoman Santia Fox.

Following another eight-plus-hour City Council meeting, I want to address some of the concerns many of you have raised regarding your trash services.

If changes are made to trash services, and I emphasize “IF”, I want to assure you that I will do everything within my authority to ensure you are properly informed.

I voted to approve funding for mailers, and I will personally follow up with our City Manager to ensure residents receive notification by mail. Not everyone uses social media or watches Council meetings, and you deserve to know what is happening in your city and have an opportunity to voice your concerns before decisions are made.

I sincerely apologize that this opportunity was not provided beforehand.

One thing I have advocated for since before taking office is TRANSPARENCY. Unfortunately, transparency continues to be an area of concern under our current leadership.

My commitment remains the same: transparency, accountability, and putting the residents of Jonesboro FIRST.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you. 🧡

Tonight, I voted to keep Jonesboro’s millage rate at 9 mills.

This was not an easy decision. I wrestled with it for nearly a month as a Councilwoman, a resident, and a former City of Jonesboro business owner.

Yes, Jonesboro has needs. But raising the millage rate does not fix problems that require stronger leadership, better financial controls, accountability, and better systems.

Before we ask residents to pay more, I believe City Hall must show that we can responsibly manage what you have already entrusted to us.

Our City is currently noncompliant with the State because of our outstanding audit requirements, affecting our eligibility for state grant funding. That is not the fault of our citizens.

We have workplace culture and employee retention concerns. That is not the fault of our citizens.

We have had budgets that were not followed as adopted. That is not the fault of our citizens.

Our City needs greater attention to its appearance, maintenance, and basic infrastructure. That is not the fault of our citizens.

These are issues that we, as City leadership, must own and address.

Before we ask you for more, we must demand more from ourselves. ✋🏾🧡

Reshaping One Jonesboro 🧡

Tonight at 5:00 PM, the City of Jonesboro will host its final budget hearing, which will be followed by the Council voting on the millage rate.

I encourage all City of Jonesboro residents to attend, ask questions, and make your voices heard.

Please remember, this hearing specifically affects residents who live within the City of Jonesboro city limits. One easy way to know: if your household receives City of Jonesboro trash service and has a City of Jonesboro trash can, you are likely within the city limits.

Your voice matters, and your participation matters. 🧡

I hope to see you tonight at 6:00 PM!

BUDGET.

This message is for everyone who lives within the City of Jonesboro city limits.

We have a Budget Hearing tonight at 6:00 PM, and we need to hear your voices.

Please be part of the conversation. Decisions are being made on your behalf, and we need to hear what YOU would like to see for our city.

Your voice matters. Your participation matters.

See you tonight at 6:00 PM! 🧡
