Massachusetts Man Charged in Bomb Threat at Town Hall Complex
In the morning hours of August 12, 2026, the Town of Kennebunk received two bomb threats, which forced the evacuation of the Town Hall Complex. This incident adversely affected business operations, and Town leadership ultimately closed the Town Hall for the remainder of the day.
The Kennebunk Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division initiated an investigation that included assistance from the Maine State Police, Maine Capital Police, and FBI Portland.
That ensuing investigation led detectives to an address in Revere, Massachusetts, and eventually led to the person responsible for sending the threats. He has been identified as ANDRES GAVIRIA ARANGO, age 25. Detectives have now charged ARANGO with Terrorizing, a Class C felony, and he is scheduled to appear in the York Judicial Center on October 13th.
The Kennebunk Police Department would like to thank all our law enforcement partners who assisted in this investigation, especially the Revere, Massachusetts Police Department and its Behavioral Health Unit.
