A belated thank you to every Precinct 4 citizen and family that hosted a celebration in their neighborhoods last week. I had a wonderful time visiting with neighbors and hearing about what's important to them in this upcoming election.

can't afford insider politics and GOP-led voter suppression in November. That's why I'm fighting for you and that's why I'm proud to be endorsed by the National Democratic County Officials. When everything we've worked for is on the line in November, then that means this race is too important for us to lose. And I'm glad to have national recognition of that fact.

Simmonsville Missionary Baptist Church has been a historical landmark in Killeen for more than 75 years. The Church, it's paritioners, and leadership have all been pillars the black community in Killeen. This is an unprecedented tradgedy for all of and my heart and prayers go to everyone affected.

I know that this is just a steppingstone in God's Plan and my prayers are for a speedy recovery for the church's community and a new development of the sanctuary as soon as possible.

Killeen Church Fire: Luis Samuel, the church co-treasurer, and Yvette Jackson, the church finance secretary, had arrived at the church about 10 a.m. Tuesday to work in the finance office. Just before noon, Jackson said she could smell something burning, but couldn’t identify the cause. Samuel went to the back door of the church and saw the flames.
“He said, ‘grab your purse and keys, we got to go,’” Jackson said.
The fire made it impossible for the two to exit through the back door.

I had a blast last Thursday at the Bell County Texas Democratic Women Endorsement Party and Blue Hour Social! It's always great to see Bell County Democrats energized and ready to fight for our values in November! Special thanks to Amelia for Texas for the space and credit to Robin Peeples for the photos!

I was proud to spend this with my union brothers and sisters at the Texas AFL-CIO Central Texas CLC's Labor Luncheon! As a proud former AFSCME member, I know that our unions do so much to ensure workers across our region have the right to organize and advocate, are paid fairly, and have safe working conditions. Happy !

Jean Shine will be sorely missed and was a heart of the Bell County community. Jean and her family have always been kind to our community, helping support scholarships at Central Texas College and through other community causes like AUSA where I had the honor to serve with her. She has always been a supporter of veterans, our businesses, and an all-around great person to know.

Remembering Jean Shine — A True Fort Hood Good Neighbor

Today, we mourn the loss of Jean Shine, a remarkable Central Texas leader whose life reflected service, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to Fort Hood Soldiers, military families, veterans, and the community.

Named a Fort Hood Good Neighbor in 2001, Jean became a trusted bridge between The Great Place and Central Texas. As a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, she was a steadfast advocate for Soldiers and their families.

Her service extended beyond Fort Hood. Through Wreaths for Vets and the Friends of the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Jean helped build an enduring tradition of honoring our fallen and bringing the community together in remembrance.

Jean embodied the very best of the Army and epitomized the spirit of why Fort Hood is the Great Place.

Our deepest condolences are with the Shine family and all who knew her.

Rest well, Jean. Your legacy lives on.

Your friends,

Lt. Gen. Kevin D. Admiral
Cmd. Sgt. Maj. James L. Light
