Water Conservation! Remember, harvesting rainwater is more than a drop in a bucket. 1000 square feet, and an inch of rain yields 600 gallons. 928-302-8226
Rainman Rainwater Harvesting is an Arizona company designed to conserve water and limit the dependence on an ever diminishing community water supply. As population increases, and drought becomes more persistent and frequent, the more limitations are placed on individual water use. Most of us have had water use restrictions placed on us. Water use restrictions are put into place for one reason - Th
ere is an immediate concern about future water supplies! So what is happening? Climatic changes have caused the jet stream to shift much further to the north. Normal winter storms that trek over California, Nevada, the four corner region, and even into Texas, have been disrupted. On the other hand, the northern plains have seen frequent flooding and an over abundance of precipitation. If rainfall has decreased, why should we be harvesting rainwater? One of the greatest hurdles we must overcome is getting over the "it doesn't rain here" mentality. Watching the local news is a source of misinformation concerning the availability of rainwater. We have all seen it, the well-groomed newscaster dramatically stating that "I cannot believe the weather, it never rains here!". It doesn't really matter where you are from, but if you watch the news, your home is surely the hottest, driest, coldest, wettest place on earth. You should make the decision on whether it rains or not, we are all capable of determining our own fate. Here are the facts:
An inch of rain, on a thousand square feet of harvesting surface will yield 600 gallons of water. Perhaps you have a 1600 square foot home. You have a covered back patio, and a covered front porch. You also have a two car garage attached to the house. Though you have 1600 square feet of living space, you actually have 2400 square feet of harvesting surface. You live in the higher elevations to the East of Phoenix, somewhere in East Mesa or Apache Junction. You are trained to believe that it never rains at your house, the monsoons always bypass you and go to another location. I know you think that, because it is the same answer from everyone. The fact is, you receive 12 inches of precipitation annually, where Central Phoenix receives only 8. So let's do the math...
2400' x 1inch of rain = 1440 gallons. However, we receive 12 inches annually..
12 inches x 1440 gallons = 17,280 gallons/ per year
This is a hypothetical, but realistic, scenario. An average sized home in the far East Valley should expect to harvest around 17,000 gallons of water annually. What if you lived in Williams, Arizona, where annual precipitation is greater than 21 inches. Your home, including garages, living space, porches, patios and sheds is 3500 square feet. The towns water supply has run dry, and water must be hauled in? Most figured at this point they would do what civilized people do, they will go to the store and buy water. However, everybody else had the same idea, and the stores have LONG since run out of bottled water. But you had a rainwater harvesting system installed and were not dependent upon the community supply. How much water were you harvesting?
3500 square feet x 1 inch = 2100 gallons
2100 gallons x 21 inches = 44,100 gallons
That's right, 44,100 gallons! That is more than 3500 gallons of available water each month. Do not try to justify avoiding a system like this because the price of water is so cheap. Consider the price of water when there isn't any! How much would you pay for a gallon of water if it were the last gallon available? Call the Rainman for a free consultation! I will show you exactly how we can secure your water supply, how it will be filtered and sterilized, the cost of the system, and any other information you may need. Travis 928-302-8226
