North/East loves small business
Nowhere will you find more eclectic small businesses than in Happy Holler, Old North Knoxville, Burlington, Park City, Lincoln Park and the many other neighborhoods that make up North/East Knoxville.
Love colorful secondhand style? Check out Jenny Salata and April Burger’s French Fried Vintage, and Julie Belcher and Phil Rupp’s vintage Western wear specialty shop, Pioneer House. In need of some grooming, in a welcoming atmosphere of yesteryear? Try Saints & Sailors Barber Shop, run by Don Richardson and Ben Miller on Central Avenue, followed by some all-natural skin and hair care from Honey Dew Naturals, run by Nate and Alli Huff in Strawberry Plains. Need a stylish clutch to carry? Enkeshi El-Amin, who teaches sewing and runs Klutch Queen out of her home, offers many colorful selections.
Is your puppy problematic? The Spot 4 Dogs, run by trainer Jason DeCort and his wife, Katelyn, can definitely help.
Are you in love with that ratty old chair you found in a flea market, but distressed by its covering? Look up Jesica and Wes Breitenbach of Crown Upholstery, where they believe “everything deserves a second chance.”
That also applies to dinnerware – Flanders Ewing Setchel will be glad to share her love of glorious old dishes at her shop, Doing Dishes, on Washington Pike.
Need to sit and chill with a hot cup of coffee and a treat? East Knoxvillians know that Perk City is the place to be. Owner Sherene Jacobs will greet you and tell you all about the blackberry-lavender cornbread, among other delectables offered here. And be sure to stop by Archers BBQ’s latest location on Rutledge Pike.
It’s no wonder the Diversity Business Expo and the Maker City Summit draw a big crowd every year here in The Maker City.
