A special thank you to Kate Franklin and the Standard Banner for taking the time to ride along with me and share a glimpse into the work of Jefferson County's Constables. I appreciate the opportunity to serve this great community and shed some light on what we do!

For most people, a Wednesday evening might mean dinner at home, relaxing on the couch or getting ready for bed. For Jefferson County Constable Jacob Thompson, Wednesday, September 2, was simply another night on patrol. Jefferson County has 10 elected constables whose mission is “to partner with th...

Today, we celebrate 234 years of Jefferson County, Tennessee.

On June 11, 1792, Jefferson County was officially established, beginning a legacy that continues to this day. For 234 years, generations of citizens have built, protected, and served this community we are proud to call home.

The Office of Constable has been part of that story since the very beginning. For more than two centuries, constables have helped preserve the peace, serve their communities, and answer the call when needed.

As we honor this special anniversary, we remember those who served before us and remain committed to serving the citizens of Jefferson County with integrity, dedication, and pride.

I’d appreciate your vote for Jefferson County Constable in Tennessee’s Best-Looking Cruiser Contest!

If you’d like to support us, please take a moment to vote. Remember, you must rank THREE agencies for your vote to count:

🥇 First Place = 3 points
🥈 Second Place = 2 points
🥉 Third Place = 1 point

Please be sure not to vote for the same agency more than once, or your entire ballot will be disqualified.

This contest is mostly for bragging rights, but it’s also a great opportunity to showcase the pride law enforcement agencies across Tennessee take in serving their communities.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to vote and support Jefferson County Constable District 5!

This year, as part of the 22nd Annual Law Enforcement Challenge, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office will offer “Tennessee’s Best-Looking Cruiser Award” to recognize the law enforcement agency with the coolest cruiser photo. All law enforcement agencies in Tennessee are eligible to participat...

Today, on the National Day of Prayer, we join millions across our country in praying for our communities, our families, our first responders, our military, our schools, and our nation.

No matter your background or beliefs, there is always value in kindness, unity, compassion, and looking out for one another. In a time where division is easy, may we remember the importance of respect, understanding, and service to others.

Please keep Jefferson County and all those who serve it in your prayers today, law enforcement, firefighters, EMS personnel, dispatchers, healthcare workers, teachers, public servants, and community leaders.

May we all continue working together to make our community safer, stronger, and better for the next generation.

God bless Jefferson County, and God bless America. 🇺🇸

It was an honor to serve with you John David. Thank you for your service to Jefferson County. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family and all of his many current and former co-workers.

In Memory of John David Holland
Jefferson County Constable, 1996–2016

Yesterday, Jefferson County lost a true public servant. John David Holland dedicated much of his life to serving the people of this county in many different roles. He served as a Jefferson County Constable for 20 years, from 1996 to 2016, and during that time he was known as an active and hardworking officer who answered hundreds of calls and also made dozens of arrests in service to our community.

In addition to his time as Constable, John also served Jefferson County as a Paramedic and as 911 Director, as well as a Jefferson County Deputy. Most recently, he continued his service in law enforcement as a Patrolman with the Rutledge Police Department. He also served as Chief Constable of the Jefferson County Constables’ Department and spent several years as Secretary-Treasurer for the Constables’ Department. Beyond law enforcement, he had also served as a firefighter and rescue squad member, continuing a life of service wherever he was needed.

John David Holland spent his life answering calls for help, whether on an ambulance, a fire truck, a patrol car, or as a Constable. Few people dedicate that many years, in that many roles, to taking care of their community.

Please keep his family, friends, and his brothers and sisters in public safety in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. His years of service to Jefferson County will not be forgotten.
