During our Stafflights, the Office of Local Affairs will be showcasing our individual staff members, their insights, and their work as it pertains to our office. In this Stafflight, we are happy to highlight our Director of Internal Outreach, Edwin Valderrama, a third year student majoring in Political Science. As the Director of Internal Outreach, Edwin has been vital in strengthening our relationship with our own campus community. Just recently, these efforts culminated in ensuring there was student representation on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Committee so that students could effectively have a place at the table. We encourage you to visit Edwin during his Office Hours to learn more about his work in the Office of Local Affairs, every Thursday at 5:00 PM on the fourth floor of Price Center.

During our Stafflights, the Office of Local Affairs will be showcasing our individual staff members, their insights, and their work as it pertains to our office. In this Stafflight, we are proud to reflect on the contributions of Mishelle Arakelian, a first year student at Eleanor Roosevelt College. As the Director of the Political Partnership Program, Mishelle drafts and composes a dynamic and hands-on curriculum that is reflective of local, state, and federal government as well as the different functions of each entity. In effect, she works to increase literacy in civic engagement and democratic process for high school students at The Preuss School UCSD.
