I was told today by a 98 year old war veteran that I was his first and only republican he has ever voted for. He is a lifelong Democrat and held to these values for nearly a century. I feel honored that I have made that much of a impact on his decision. This isn’t about party but about community.

I have also received many pictures of the I voted sticker. You can make the difference.

Thank you everyone for your support!

Today is the last day of early voting. The polls are open till three. While you’re out getting your Candy for tonight‘s visitors stop by and make your voice heard. To the residents of Wea Township I have heard your concerns loud and clear through conversations with many and can’t agree with you more. It’s time to give the power back to the people by bringing back the transparency of the township office. It will take the help of everyone to accomplish this task but as a community I know we are up to the challenge.

Make your vote count.

Every time I post Facebook ask “what’s on your mind”. Well here we go, our townships future is on the line. My goal is to make this township the icon of the county with community involvement. I’ve felt that I have not just “talked a good talk” but have demonstrated my commitment to Wea is sincere, and my work hasn’t begun. My challenge is not only to the residents but to help me to make Wea the icon of townships and challenge each and everyone to get involved. That challenge has been answered, I know this community is willing to help! That’s right help, I can’t do this alone I’ll need everyone to engage and give their input to help with decisions. The recourses are deep in this community and I would be foolish to think otherwise. I promise each and everyone that while it will be impossible to please every 34,000 + Wea residents I will do what is best for the community. Unlike our lame duck trustee and current board, I will only discuss township business in a public meeting with all discussions open to the public to those who wish to attend with plenty of notice. The trustees opinion and boards opposition will be welcome in public discussion.

With your help if elected Wea will be the icon of the county. No disrespect to the other townships but fair warning, get better because Wea is back and we WILL
lead by example.

This is my promise and with your help we will succeed. I can’t do it alone, get on board. This is my goal and together we will accomplish this. Money doesn’t make a community, our community involvement will make us better .

After the meeting, Slaven refused to tell the Journal & Courier about the statutory reason for the executive session. He said to call him on Tuesday, and he would explain. Slaven has not returned the Tuesday morning call.

Kent Millette, an attorney with Taylor, Minnette, Schneider & Clutter in Crawfordsville, counseled the board Monday. He also declined to state the statutory reason for the executive session.

Who’s is Mr Millette representing, the township or Jim Slaven? I know the taxpayers are paying the bill. Let’s ask him!

The Wea Township board approved the 2027 budget Monday 2-1, with board member George Buck voting against it to the applause of the crowd. See link below ⬇️

I had the privilege to meet my opponent in person tonight at the budget adoption meeting. I’ve spoke to this man via phone calls and text but not in person. I believe that both of us share the importance of transparency and fiscal responsibility for Wea Township. Good honest man no doubt.

Now the issue I have with my opponent. He had registered before I did for trustee. In the registration you can go by a nickname and his is “Al” short for Alfonso. For those who know me personally know me also as “Al” short for Alan, so you got there first congratulations. Obviously I couldn’t go by Al because I didn’t want to confuse the voters.

Good luck in your campaign and hopefully I have better luck 😉.

In all seriousness do your research and make an educated decision. Remember the trustee isn’t the only decision you need to make. The board is very important if not more than the trustee. Do your research and vote what you feel will make this township the icon of the county. We will get there if we stay united and work together.

Good turnout tonight at the budget adoption meeting. Our efforts showed improvement with the transparency, although too little too late. Public comment exposed issues with the budget still but unfortunately 2 of the 3 board members still followed the “don’t make Jim mad” script. One board member Mr. George Buck voted nay on all 3 motions. The surprise was evident with the other board members. This is the same board member that was ostracized when he commented that there wasn’t any discussion in the board meeting for Slaven’s raise in January. Hats off to Mr Buck for finally voting his mind and not following the script, we appreciate it.

8 days until the election and the new trustee has his work cut out for him. Bring it on I like the challenge, with your vote I will again show this lame duck trustee that when you challenge the community we will thrive.

Good things to come, no doubt. Stay involved lets do this together.
