Thank you to the Macomb League of Women Voters and Our Time for putting together a voter education program at many local high schools, including at Mount Clemens High School! I enjoyed talking to our newest voters about the importance of using their voices in every election. We held a mock election, and I even had the chance to fill out my absentee ballot with them to demonstrate how fast and easy it is to vote from home (or wherever!). Thanks, Cassidy Conley for the invitation and for the presentation.

On November 3rd, flip over your ballot and vote YES on the SMART Public Transportation Millage Renewal.

This is a renewal, so there's no increase in your property taxes, and it keeps public transit available to 150,000 Macomb County residents who don't have access to a car. If this funding is cut, SMART could be forced to scale back its 17 Macomb County bus routes, Dial-A-Ride, and Flex Van service.

I want to thank everyone who showed up to our Annual Community Cookout on Sunday!

While the weather did not cooperate, I am very grateful to the Cairns Community Center for allowing us to quickly adjust our plan.

Thank you to the volunteers for coming out to help us run a great event, to Family Youth Interventions for helping me put this together, and to Vibe Credit Union for their support as our presenting sponsor.

We’ll see you this time next year for our next cookout, but stay tuned for more events in the future!

Last week, the Mount Clemens City Commission met with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office to seek answers on Flock Cameras. A portion of our conversation is featured here.

I recommend you watch the entire meeting, which is linked in the comments below.
