By a show of hands 🙋‍♂️, who likes waiting on 3-1-1 just for the call taker to tell you the police don’t handle “that”. Luckily there is an app for some of what we don’t handle. It’s called FixIt Clark County. It is used by Public Works, Code Enforcement, Business License, and the Commissions office to communicate with and take requests from the public.

The top requests are road related, such as potholes, asphalt repairs, sinkholes, crosswalks, streetlights, graffiti, trash, short term rentals, abandoned vehicles, and unhoused issues.

Of course if it’s an emergency or it’s something that needs to be handled sooner rather than later, you can still call us.

Links to the app posted in the comments.

We have noticed an increase in scam calls coming from the “Clark county police department”. They usually give you a name, a badge number, then proceed to tell you you missed jury duty or parking tickets. We don’t do that. We definitely do not ask you to pay fines with gift cards. If you get one of these calls, do not engage with them or give them money.

If you receive one of these calls you can file with the FBI at IC3.gov or call them at 800-225-5324. If you do fall victim to this and give them money, please make a report at your closest police station.

TOP CRASH INTERSECTIONS — JULY 2026

Here is a list of the intersections in our jurisdiction with the highest number of traffic crashes last month.

Reducing traffic deaths is among this department’s highest priorities. Everyone deserves to reach their destination safely. Don’t put yourself or others at risk by engaging in dangerous driving behaviors.

Some of the top contributing factors in injury crashes during July included:

❌ Failure to Yield the Right of Way
❌ Failure to Maintain Lane / Ran Off Road / Wrong-Way Driving
❌ Disregarding a Traffic Control Device

Traffic fatalities as of August 17:

2026: 74
2025: 103

Today we celebrated the retirement of manager Shannon. After 28 and a half years she is hanging up her headset. She started in 1998 as a call taker, promoted to dispatcher, then supervisor, and finally manager. Coworkers that have spanned her career showed up, shared stories and some tears. Her impact on Metrocomm cannot be overstated. She has been a trainer, mentor, leader, and a friend. All you have done for this bureau will not be forgotten. We hope to make you proud going forward.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Stop. Think. Verify.

LVMPD has received numerous calls today from concerned citizens who received scam phone calls that sounded and felt very real.

Scammers may claim you:

Failed to appear in court
Missed jury or grand jury duty
Have a warrant for your arrest
Must immediately pay money to avoid arrest

They may leave a convincing voicemail or keep you on the phone while pressuring and threatening you. Do not fall for it. Law enforcement will never demand immediate payment over the phone to prevent an arrest.

Never provide personal or financial information to someone who calls unexpectedly. Hang up and independently contact LVMPD or your local law enforcement agency to verify the claim.

Visit www.lvmpd.com/scams to explore our growing collection of common scams, the tactics scammers use and how to recognize them.
