It’s , a time to honor the brave men and women who serve and protect.
Last Friday, I spoke at the annual Ernest May Day event at Ernest J May Elementary School. The event honors Officer Ernest James May, the first Las Vegas police officer to lose his life in the line of duty on June 8, 1933.
His legacy is a reminder of the sacrifices officers make to keep our community safe. Thank you to Ernest J May Elementary for the invite to say a few words!
To our LVMPD and LVMPD Northwest Area Command officers and staff: we are grateful for your courage and commitment every day.

Today, we recognized our Citizens of the Month! Our theme: community builders 🌟
We celebrated Ward 6 neighbors who bring people together through recreation, education, events, and simply by keeping an open door for others. This month’s honorees include:
• Ken Kraft — Ward 6 Traffic Commissioner, HOA member, and founder of Latkefest
• Patti Chess — President of Southern Nevada Pickleball and dedicated volunteer leader
• Kim Bishop (her lovely husband, Mitch, is pictured in her place)— Special education teacher and service project organizer
• Cory Ravize — Real estate agent, President of the Divich Elementary PTO, and community outreach leader
Thank you for creating spaces where neighbors can connect and truly feel at home with one another. 💜
