This Memorial Day, we honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.
At Nevada Senior Services, we are proud to support a community that includes many veterans and their families. Today, we take a moment to reflect with gratitude and respect.

“They took care of my mother-in-law for four or five years. Thank God we had them as a resource. She was so well cared for and truly happy during her time there.”
Hearing from families like this means everything to us.
At NSS' Adult Day ReCreation programs, our goal is to create a place where people feel supported, cared for, and able to enjoy their day in a safe and welcoming environment.
We’re grateful to be part of so many families’ journeys. If you’re exploring daytime care options for a loved one, we’re here to help answer your questions.

When is it time to ask for a little extra help?
It’s not always obvious. Changes can happen gradually, and it can be hard to know what’s normal and what might be a sign that your loved one needs more support.
Here are a few things to look out for:
• Increased forgetfulness or confusion
• Difficulty keeping up with daily tasks like meals, medications, or hygiene
• Changes in mood, isolation, or loss of interest in activities
• Mobility challenges or a higher risk of falls
• A home that feels less safe or well-maintained than usual
If you’re noticing one or more of these signs, you’re not alone. Many families face this moment, and support is available.
At Nevada Senior Services, we’re here to help you understand your options and find the right support.

Good nutrition is essential to good health, especially for older adults. The meals at our Adult Day ReCreation centers are designed by Registered Dietitian Nutritionists to support wellness, energy, and independence, with the right balance of nutrients to meet each participant’s needs.
Every day includes two nutritious meals and two snacks, all thoughtfully prepared to accommodate special diets and feeding support. Menus are planned a month in advance, so families can see what’s coming up and plan their meals at home accordingly.
Our philosophy is that food nourishes more than the body. It nourishes the soul.

Our art program, led by Program Director Dee Dee Woodberry, invites participants to see themselves in a new light - not as people receiving care, but as creative individuals with stories worth sharing.
This piece was created by Yvette Castaldo, age 65.
Yvette once relied on a wheelchair. Today, she moves through the Center with a walker and can often be found dancing with a huge smile on her face.
You can feel that joy in her work.
A recent article from the American Society on Aging featured our art program and explores how we can reimagine what it means to age - highlighting the importance of identity, creativity, and self-expression at every stage of life.

✨ Meet the Team ✨
At Nevada Senior Services, we’re proud to work alongside professionals who bring both deep expertise and genuine compassion to the people we serve - and Marie Llanos is a perfect example of that.
As an Occupational Therapist specializing in aging-in-place, dementia care, and home safety, Marie helps older adults and caregivers navigate daily life with greater confidence, safety, and independence.
Her work goes beyond individual support. She collaborates across our team to ensure care is coordinated, thoughtful, and centered around each person’s needs. She also mentors the next generation of OT professionals, extending her impact even further.
We’re incredibly grateful to have Marie as part of the NSS team.

💡 OT Tip of the Week!
If you’re caring for a loved one, here’s one quick way to make home safer today:
Take a look at the most-used walking paths in the home.
Are there rugs, cords, or clutter that could cause a trip or fall?
Clearing those spaces can immediately reduce risk and make movement feel more secure.
Small changes = big impact.
