The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness.

It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans. Hundreds of local American Legion programs and activities strengthen the nation one community at a time. America

U.S. Vets Stand Down Day 15 March 2017. Post 51 was represented by Larry, Mike, and Patricia of the American Legion Post 51 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 51. It was a long day but fulfilling for us.

The members of Post/Unit 51 donated clothing and food items in material support for the Stand Down. Over 700 Veterans were assisted with VA Benefits assistance, military records retrieval, job interviews, housing assistance, medical, legal and other services. Thank you to all the folks at U.S. Vets for what they do for those Veterans less fortunate.
