🎲 Don’t gamble with your safety this EDC weekend.
As thousands travel to Las Vegas for EDC, Nevada transportation agencies are reminding drivers and passengers to use only properly licensed transportation services.
High demand and surge pricing can increase the risk of illegal passenger transportation activity, including off-app cash rides and unauthorized transportation services.
Passengers should:
✔ Use licensed taxicab companies or authorized rideshare apps
✔ Verify vehicle and driver information before entering a vehicle
❌ Avoid accepting cash rides from individuals soliciting passengers at airports, hotels, or event venues
Drivers operating illegally may face significant fines, vehicle impoundment, and additional legal liability.
One cash ride. Real consequences.
Off-app is off-limits.

Nevada Consumer Affairs played a critical role in securing relief for homeowners impacted by MV Realty agreements—demonstrating the direct impact of its staff and investigators in protecting Nevada consumers.
Through the review of consumer complaints, Nevada Consumer Affairs identified patterns tied to MV Realty’s “Homeowner Benefit Agreements,” including long-term contractual obligations and property encumbrances that affected homeowners’ ability to sell or refinance.
These findings, developed through the work of agency investigators and staff, supported coordinated enforcement action with the Nevada Office of the Attorney General, resulting in:
✔️ All MV Realty agreements in Nevada being voided
✔️ Removal of property encumbrances tied to those agreements
✔️ Restitution for eligible consumers
This outcome reflects the core function of Nevada Consumer Affairs:
🔹Investigating consumer complaints
🔹Identifying potentially deceptive business practices
🔹Taking action in coordination with partners to deliver real outcomes
It also highlights the day-to-day work of the agency’s staff and investigators—turning individual complaints into meaningful consumer protection at a statewide level.
