I love that FB asks "what's on your mind" to post something. What is on my mind this morning and all during the night, is a dead 9 year old and a 10 year old in the hospital. This is the 4th child killed in our community in 4 weeks.

What is killing me is that a majority of people immediately assign blame... Kids on their way home from school, being kids.

I need everyone to think about when you were 10 and how you were after school. So many more children walked to school... on many of the same streets!

Why was it so rare for kids to be hit? Why did kids not die walking to and from school? We all need to own that question... and stop our dismissal of drivers as the problem.

I'm not saying children are perfect and I'm not saying the kids yesterday didn't make a mistake, though I'm not saying they did either... what I know to be true is that neighborhoods, period, and by a school after the bell are places to expect the unexpected!!

Children will always be children!! Adults should protect them. That's what is different from other generations... adults don't take responsibility. And children die.

On November 17th for the Rally to Remember, there is a 1-mile walk/run suitable for the family plus a timed 5K for all you runners! This is an opportunity for a FREE timed race with prizes! Plus, we have really cool prizes that you can earn raffle tickets on site to WIN! You first raffle ticket earned is for registering for the event! Please share with friends!

SNVBC has some upcoming events and could use a few volunteers! If you would be interested in participating and helping at events such as Ride2Art, RTC Learn to Ride clinics, Ride to Remember, World Day of Remembrance, and various bicycle advocacy campaigns, please complete this form.
