Lansdowne Elementary School Lansdowne was built in 1966 and renovated in 2000. Our population includes students from more than 30 countries speaking more than 25 languages.

At Lansdowne Elementary, we pledge to provide the foundation for students to become critical and creative thinkers, effective communicators, independent learners, and responsible citizens. In spite of the changing demographics through the years, we have a strong history of academic success and progress because we emphasize the achievement of all students. The Lansdowne staff ensures that all students are cared for, valued, and held to high behavioral standards to create a safe learning environment. This is a school where all students can feel successful and become prepared for the 21st century. We are proud to be a PBIS school, where we teach and reward positive behavior. Our approximate enrollment is 620 with class sizes averaging 24 students in grades Pre-K - 5th. Our certified staff have all achieved or are working toward a master's degree. They all participate in myriad professional learning activities and seminars during the summer and throughout the school year. The mission of Fayette County Public Schools is to create a collaborative community that ensures all students achieve at high levels and graduate prepared to excel in a global society.

Our 5th graders had an incredible time stepping into the future with a visit from the STEM Bus! 🚌✨
From hands-on science experiments and coding challenges to exploring high-tech gadgets, our students put their problem-solving skills to the test and let their curiosity lead the way. It was amazing to watch their eyes light up with every new discovery! 💡🔬

🌱 Big growth, bigger hearts, and incredible harvests! 🚜✨
What started as a small seed of an idea on our grounds has grown into something truly remarkable. Over the years, our garden project has expanded into a thriving, vibrant learning space where students get their hands dirty and see the magic of growing their own food from scratch!
None of this would be possible without our amazing Mrs. McDonald and the Garden Club and the dedicated volunteers who work so hard behind the scenes. Seeing our community come together out of a shared love for the garden has been nothing short of inspiring.
Thanks to all that hands-on teamwork, just a short list of what’s been harvested:

This week, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Mrs. Herron, our MSD Teacher!

Originally born in sunny California, Mrs. Herron has been serving and encouraging our students at Lansdowne for the past 2 years with endless heart and dedication. 🐆✨

💡 What She Loves Most About Teaching

Beyond the Classroom
🎨 Favorite Subject in School: The Arts! She always enjoyed special area classes growing up.

We need to pause for a second because our social media calendar missed a couple of HUGE appreciation days recently, and there is NO WAY we’re letting them pass without a proper shout-out!
Now that we’ve got our official calendar locked in, we’re bringing it back to celebrate some absolute superheroes in our school:

A massive shout-out to the power-house 3-woman team running our PTA! You ladies pull off absolute magic behind the scenes, organize unforgettable experiences for our kids, and work tirelessly to keep our school community connected. We don't know how you do it all, but we are so thankful for your dedication! 🌟
