Boys, Families, and Mental Health

The Georgia PTA is hosting a virtual discussion tonight, Monday, October 19, at 7:00 PM, for boys ages 12 and older and their families. See the flyer for details about participating.

We’re continuing to introduce some of the newest members of our LMS team!

Meet Whitney Adkins, a new Stellar Substitute and Head Girls Basketball Coach at LMS!

Whitney is from Columbia, South Carolina, and attended Emmanuel College. She became an educator because she believes every child deserves someone who sees their potential before they can see it for themselves. She wants to create spaces where students and colleagues feel seen, challenged, and confident in who they can become.

Outside of school, Whitney enjoys playing basketball, spending time with her husband and two children, going to church, and getting some well-earned rest. She is an Atlanta Dream fan, her favorite book is “The Pursuit of God” by A.W. Tozer, and her favorite movie is “Love & Basketball.”

Anywhere with a beach is a favorite destination, and she would love to visit Italy for the cuisine, sightseeing, art, fashion, and slower pace of life. If she weren’t working in education, Whitney says she could see herself as a sleep therapist or basketball trainer.

Her favorite quote comes from John Wooden: “Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.”

We’re glad to have Whitney as part of the LMS team!

¡Conozcan a Whitney Adkins, una nueva maestra sustituta Stellar y entrenadora principal de baloncesto femenino en LMS!

Whitney es de Columbia, Carolina del Sur, y estudió en Emmanuel College. Eligió la educación porque cree que cada estudiante merece a alguien que vea su potencial, incluso antes de que pueda verlo por sí mismo. Quiere crear espacios donde los estudiantes y sus colegas se sientan valorados, desafiados y seguros de lo que pueden llegar a ser.

The school year is well underway, but we still have a few new Mustangs we haven’t had the chance to introduce! As Fall Break begins, we’re taking some time to continue our new staff introductions.

Meet Ms. Lilliane Pitters, a new Reading Connections Teacher at LMS!

Ms. Pitters is from Kampala, Uganda, and attended Leeds University in the United Kingdom. Before joining Lilburn Middle, she worked as a Digital Communications Manager with the U.S. Air Force Acquisitions Directorate.

She chose education because she wanted to do work that would allow her to make a worthwhile contribution and be useful to others.

Ms. Pitters is one of eight siblings and has two cats. Outside of school, she enjoys writing, reading, gardening, cooking, and tennis. Her favorite book is “Jane Eyre,” and her favorite movie is “The Shawshank Redemption.”

Entebbe, Uganda, is one of her favorite places, and Argentina is a destination she would love to visit. If she weren’t an educator, she says she would be a journalist.

We’re glad to have Ms. Pitters as part of the LMS team!

Free English classes for GCPS parents and caregivers are coming to Lilburn Middle School! Registration and placement testing will be Wednesday, October 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in our Family Engagement Center. Classes begin Saturday, October 31, and space is limited.

¡Clases gratuitas de inglés para padres y cuidadores de estudiantes de GCPS en Lilburn Middle School!
