Hey Nebraska Guard Competitors! We'd love to get some of your pics and details of the comps you have competed in, or the training you have attended in 2025 to add to the page!
Here's some great dudes from the Czech Republic that came and shot at the 2025 Governor's Cup! They shot our pistols and rifles and did really well all things considered!! Not to mention they became life long pals!
As military competitions wind down for the year, I'd encourage you to come out and support the Nebraska Sniper teams as they battle to be the best at the Chris D. Horton Legacy Sniper Competition in Ponca Nebraska! This is a rare time to see the best snipers in the nation compete in honor of our fallen brother. What makes it rare? There isn't another sniper comp in the country that you as a spectator can be right up in the mix watching how these guys work! Comment for details and we will post the link!
What an awesome experience! The Marksmanship Team and HHC Snipers cleaned house!
If this type of competition interests you- shoot us a PM! We can answer any questions you may have! Shoutout to all the volunteers who made this match amazing!
We will post more pics as they get cleared from PAO!

🌟2024 LIFE SAVING AWARD – Deputy Jason Skallberg🌟
In July of 2024, Deputy Skallberg responded to a Waverly swimming pool on an unresponsive 11-year-old after having been underwater for some time. Deputy Skallberg took over CPR, and later instructed lifeguards to open their automated external defibrillators (AED) and was later transported to the hospital and has made a full recovery. Here’s a little more information to get to know Deputy Skallberg:
How long have you been in law enforcement? I started in law enforcement with the Sioux Falls Police Department in January of 2020 and I have been with LSO since August of 2021.
What role does training play in emergency situations like this? Training we receive at in-service, critical incidents, other deputies and medical/fire and rescue work has helped me greatly, like training of CPR, knowing how and when to place an AED. I’ve learned from my wonderful coworkers, how to remain calm in a very stressful situation, taking charge and being a leader at a scene. I was only a couple blocks away from the pool that day, and all my training from LSO and other agencies helped me to be prepared for that incident.
What’s the most rewarding part of being a deputy? All of the various people I meet each day. Whether it’s people going through their worst day, to simply saying hello to people I see out in public. I work in a great community and I find it rewarding to serve, help and making a positive impact in whatever the situation is.

The Nebraska Sportsman Series kicked off the beginning of February! It’s not a military match but some Army HHC guardsmen chose to compete in an effort to sharpen their skills. Chance Bauman and Luke Entz placed 5th and said they learned a lot of lessons about what they can refine in their shooter/spotter roles- these 2 don’t normally shoot together as each of them run a sniper team for HHC!
Nice work boys!
Thinking about joining the Army Guard? We’d love to have you on the team!
