Over the past few weeks of community meetings for the LRSD Forward Plan, I have been overwhelmed — in the best way — by our LRSD community.
To every parent, grandparent, educator, student, neighbor, and community partner who have shown up, spoke up, wrote an email, and shared your story: Thank you.
Your concerns are valid, your questions are necessary, and your solutions are playing a crucial role in the tough but necessary decisions ahead of us.
What I am most appreciative of is HOW we have had these conversations:
✅ Student-centered — keeping kids at the heart of every discussion
✅ Solution-focused — not just telling us what’s wrong, but offering ideas on how to get it right
✅ Respectful — even when there is disagreement, we are doing it with care for one another.
This is what community should look like.
There has been a lot of discussion about school closures and what LRSD needs to do to ensure long-term stability and future growth. These are not easy conversations. Schools are neighborhoods. They are family. Getting this right matters.
This work is not over. The Board has not voted. No final decision has been made.
We need continued engagement.
Please continue to show up. Continue to advocate for our students. Continue to send your ideas. Your voice is not just being heard — it is shaping the path forward.
This is how we build a stronger LRSD - TOGETHER.
