How do we fix California's broken conservatorship system?
🌹
New legislation aims to provide more rights to people with disabilities who are in conservatorships.

AB 1663 is a conservatorship reform bill proposed by California Assemblymember Brian Maienschein.
“At heart, this is really a human rights bill. What it’s going to do is it’s going to put a concept called 'supported decision-making' into law,” said Maienschein. “This will be the first time this will ever be written into law. It’s really groundbreaking – and it changes the whole dynamic when it comes to conservatorships.”
But the bill is also in part thanks to the Free Britney movement.

“The main organizers of the Free Britney movement have been incredible civil rights leaders throughout this whole process,” said Judy Marks.
Marks is the President of Disability Voices United, a statewide organization directed by people with disabilities and their family members. The Free Britney movement brought Marks and other advocates to rallies when Spears was still under conservatorship.

Britney Spears you’re perfect the way you are. Sometimes we highlight our flaws but remember all the qualities you have in you. Always so beautiful 😍, the best mom someone could ever have 🥹😍, funny as hell 😂, so polite to people, smart… and also let me tell you: you don’t walk girl, you catwalk all the time 😍😍😍 remember when you said: you’ve been on both sides and you cannot see one without another… that’s why you’re perfectly imperfect and that’s the most beautiful thing in the world. Being able to share this same timeline with you in this planet.
Eat the whole mac and cheese you want, chocolate… don’t regret about it!
And remember: in a world full of the “plastic it’s fantastic” being and showing vulnerability requires so much awareness of ourselves and strength. The world is broken, NOT YOU 🌹♥️♥️♥️
We Love You Forever 🌹🌹🌹♥️♥️♥️

This is a SCANDAL.
Writing Nichelle’s obituary 8 years before she died?! Something so OUT OF DATE and not even updating with this crucial info?! - the conservatorship.

Where’s the ethic ??? 🌹

Someone is listening over 74 thousand! It’s time Michigan attorney general Dana Nessel did something to protect the elderly and disabled in Michigan.

My mother Betty Hayes was isolated from 27 family members for over 14 months so court appointed attorneys could profit from her $275,000 Trust that Judge Freddie Burton Jr. made me turn over to a private for profit guardian.
Apparently collusion is allowed as long as there is profit to be made.

I hope Tudor Dixon becomes Michigans next governor and does something about the treatment of the elderly and disabled! It is inhumane and cruel!!

The moment when Nichelle Nichols knows that she’s under a conservatorship filed by her own son Kyle.

In this video is also possible to hear the moment when he denies her wish to stay and keep the conversation with her friend and Nichelle starts screaming.

TOUCH OF ROSE and FREEBRITNEY LA JOINT STATEMENT 🌹

On July 30th, New York Times published Nichelle Nichols’ obituary. However, it did not mention her conservatorship and the battle to free her from it.

Crucial points are missing and the NYT, as a reputable outlet, must do better. We ask the NYT for a correction and addition be made to her NYT obituary.

1. Nichelle’s conservatorship is not mentioned as part of the end of her life despite it consuming much of the final years of her life or efforts by many advocates, including her devoted friend and Founder of , to highlight her concerning situation;

2. Nichelle Nichols represents so many victims of conservatorship abuse in the U.S.; women, people of color and elderly are most of its victims;

3. She represents conservatorship abuse in its most common form and resulting in the most common outcome, death of the conservatee/ward - it is rare anyone gets out.

4. One of the brutalities of conservatorship is that few escape and most end in death, with victims never having gotten to see their friends and loved ones who suffer forever with that lack of closure.

5. Britney’s outcome is extremely rare — Nichelle’s case is much more representative of what happens to people in conservatorship.

Nichelle Nichols’ best friend Angelique Fawcette adds: “Nichelle has lived in the embodiment of Love For the World. She has transitioned…she has died, imprisoned, abused and silenced. I will love her forever and I will stand up for her life and for the lives of all people around the Nation trapped in abusive and toxic Conservatorships and Guardianships.”
