When a document needs to be notarized, individuals are often called upon to act as witnesses. It’s important to understand the role of a witness and know when they’re needed in order to complete a successful notarization.
It’s important to note that not all documents require a witness for the notarization process. Some documents only need the signature of the relevant parties and an authorized notary public in order to be valid. However, if a document requires additional verification such as witnessing signatures or identities, then one or more witnesses may be necessary.
At its simplest level, having a witness means having someone present who can observe and verify that everything is happening according to plan - from verifying signatures and identities down to witnessing other authentication steps that may be necessary for larger transactions. In addition, both parties must sign statements swearing that all information provided during the notarization process is true and accurate; these statements must also be signed by at least one witness in order for them to be considered legally binding.
If you find yourself needing notary services but unsure whether your transaction requires witnesses or not; contact us today, we would be happy to help you out.

When Witnesses Are Needed for Notarization
Witnesses are often needed to serve as attestors for important documents and agreements that require notarization. Having an impartial witness is a vital part of the notarization process, making sure the documents or agreements being notarized are both legal and authentic.
In order to be considered a valid witness, they must meet certain criteria: they must be at least 18 years old and have no personal interest in the document/agreement being notarized. Furthermore, they must be able to swear or affirm to having seen the signatory sign the document/instrument in their presence.
It's essential to understand when witnesses are necessary for a successful notarization so you can make sure your important documents or agreements remain legally sound. In most cases, if there is more than one signature on a document/agreement then two witnesses are needed to validate it. The same goes for when someone is signing in lieu of another person; two witnesses will also be necessary in this case. It's important that each witness has proof of identity so they can confirm who is signing and witnessed by them.
No matter what type of document or agreement you're trying to get notarized, having an impartial witness is essential to ensure its validity and authenticity. Knowing when witnesses are needed during a notarial act will help you guarantee all your important documents or agreements remain legally binding and accepted as true evidence in court if need be.
Hope this helps🙂
