I was proud to bring LA Opera’s free simulcast of Carmen to William Steinmetz Park in Hacienda Heights, giving San Gabriel Valley residents the opportunity to experience world-class opera close to home.

Thank you to LA Opera for this partnership and for extending arts programming to local seniors and students. Everyone deserves access to the arts, regardless of their ZIP code or ability to pay.

Honored to stop by Jose Ruiz sixth annual Pumpkin Patch in South El Monte! This event has been a favorite of mine over the past few years, bringing together families from across the San Gabriel Valley and offering free, festive activities for everyone to enjoy.

In addition, an evacuation center has opened at Memorial Park, 340 N Orange Ave, Azusa, CA 91702 for impacted residents.

10/15/26 2:18PM A brushfire started this afternoon in Azusa. LA County Fire and our Office of Emergency Management remains engaged with ground and air fire response.

An EVACUATION ORDER has been placed for MC01.

An EVACUATION WARNING has been issued for:

• AZU-NOB01
• AZU-CYN01-A
• LAC-E168
• LAC-E170

Residents in the surrounding areas are recommended to continue monitoring and be prepared in case an evacuation order is issued.

Today, I joined our partners in Azusa to break ground on the first phase of Azusa Wilderness Park.
I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and know how important parks and open space are for our families. That is why I authored Measure A in 2016 to invest in parks, beaches and open space across Los Angeles County. I remain committed to making sure more families can enjoy these spaces close to home.
I was proud to present $1.8 million toward this project, which will create new opportunities for recreation, nature education and access to the San Gabriel River. Thank you to the Watershed Conservation Authority, the City of Azusa and all our partners who have helped move this project forward.

At Los Angeles County, we take pride in delivering high-quality services to residents, and that starts with the dedicated employees who are constantly finding ways to improve how we serve the public. Every day, County employees develop innovative solutions to strengthen programs and services, solve challenges and work more efficiently. I was proud to join the Productivity and Quality Awards, which recognize the employees and teams leading these efforts and advancing excellence in public service. I was proud to recognize Spectrum’s continued investment in our neighborhoods and honor outstanding First District organizations advancing workforce development, advocacy and empowerment, including Hispanic Federation, Barcid Foundation, Instituto de Avance Latino (IDEAL), Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), YWCA Greater Los Angeles and Metropolitan Los Angeles, and Brown Bag Lady. As our world becomes increasingly digital, expanding access across Los Angeles County is critical and requires collaboration. Spectrum’s $145,000 investment in these community partners is helping build a stronger, more resilient future for our neighborhoods. Initiatives like these remind us what is possible when we invest in our communities. Congratulations to all of the honorees!
