Linze Thompson has been an Amwest Family member for 5.5 years serving as an EMT, Field Training Officer, Dispatcher, and all-around helper. When someone thinks of what Amwest is, Linze Thompson comes to mind. He has a huge heart of gold, extremely loyal and dedicated, and is always looking to help and serve others. Linze has had numerous compliments and commendations submitted about him during his time with Amwest. When new hires or student ride-alongs come in for their first experience, Linze is typically the first to greet them and guide them along the way. Christopher Castillo has been a Paramedic with Amwest Ambulance for a little under a year. However, in that time, he has helped restructure, organize, and solidify our ALS program. Christopher is also a proud serving Staff Sergeant in the US Army Reserves and this year, Amwest Ambulance partnered with him in participating in Boss Lift Day for our first time. Mr. Castillo brings leadership, charisma, and dedication to the Amwest leadership team and it has spread throughout the entire ALS Division. Few people have the work ethic, let alone ability to come into a new environment, see an opportunity for growth, and succeed at accomplishing it so quickly. Mr. Castillo continues to prove that he has that ability and more. Amwest Ambulance is proud, honored, and excited to nominate Mr. Christopher Castillo, for the 2023 Star of Life Award.

“Nearly every industry dealt with staffing shortages during the pandemic, but an EMT shortage is one that can mean the difference between life and death. The Bureau of Labor Statistics lists EMTs as one of the lowest-paying jobs in healthcare, and roughly a third quit in 2021.”
