Welcome, October!

In a Waldorf classroom, the nature table offers children a beautiful connection to the rhythms of the natural world. As the seasons change, so does the table—reflecting what is happening just beyond the classroom walls through leaves, flowers, stones, shells, branches, handmade figures, and other treasures from nature.

More than decoration, the nature table creates a quiet space for wonder, observation, imagination, and reverence for the earth. It encourages children to notice the small changes unfolding around them and to experience the beauty and rhythm of each season.

A little piece of the natural world, lovingly brought indoors.

-Ms. Tane (Kinder), Ms. Gentzkow (1st Grade), Ms. Kuter (1st Grade), Ms. April’s TK nature table

The Festival of Courage is a beautiful Waldorf tradition that invites children to discover the strength, bravery, and light that live within each of us. Through stories, songs, movement, and meaningful challenges, students experience courage not simply as being fearless, but as meeting uncertainty with an open heart and taking the next step even when something feels difficult.

As we enter the changing season, the festival reminds us that courage can take many forms—trying something new, persevering through a challenge, standing up for what is right, helping another, or finding our way through moments of doubt.

May our students carry this inner strength with them, knowing that even a small light can shine brightly in the darkness.

Head, heart, hands—and a courageous spirit.

Our 4th graders have been busy shaping beautiful wooden eggs! Through careful carving, sanding, and patient hands, students experience the joy of watching a natural material slowly transform into something uniquely their own. Each curve, imperfection, and finishing touch tells the story of the hands that made it.

A beautiful example of how Public Waldorf Education brings learning to life through the head, heart, and hands.

“I am very proud of the students’ consistent efforts. They all were able to sculpt perfectly symmetrical eggs. The students also polished them very well, and today they sealed the wood with natural bee’s wax.” Ms. Irena

The first completed wooden spoon of the 26/27 school year! đź’™

Waldorf wooden spoon making is a classic practical arts project, introduced in the 6th grade, that teaches students patience, focus, and respect for natural materials through hands-on crafting. Using traditional hand tools like whittling knives, small axes, and gouges, students transform a block of local hardwood—such as cherry or maple—into a functional tool by sketching a design, rough-shaping the form, hollowing out the bowl, and finishing the wood with a natural coating of beeswax or food-grade oil. This experiential woodworking process builds physical confidence and concentration, perfectly reflecting the Waldorf educational philosophy that “the hands are the instruments of the heart.”
