Research published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine says your daily walk might be a true fountain of youth, literally.
Scientists found that walking 160 minutes a day (about 3 miles an hour) could boost life expectancy by more than 5 years. And for those starting with less activity, adding just 111 extra minutes of walking daily could mean living up to 11 years longer.
What are you waiting for? Let's go for a walk!

We’re continuing our week-long series highlighting helpful programs available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Each day, we’re sharing another way Veterans can access care, support, or services designed to improve their quality of life.
🕵️♂️ Today’s Resource: Adult Day Health Care 🕵️♂️
Adult Day Health Care is a daytime program that provides Veterans with social activities, peer support, companionship, and recreation, all in a safe and supervised environment.
This program is designed for Veterans who need help with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, or preparing meals. It’s also an excellent option for Veterans who may feel isolated, or for caregivers who need extra support or respite during the day. Adult Day Health Care can be used alone or alongside other Home and Community Based Services.
🏥 What the Program Offers:
Social engagement, recreation, and peer connection
Support with activities of daily living
Health services from nurses, therapists, social workers, and other professionals
Respite and skill-building support for caregivers
Half-day or full-day program options
Visits several times a week, with the ability to set a schedule based on need and availability
Possible assistance with transportation to and from the center
Services vary by location and may be offered at VA medical centers, State Veterans Homes, or community organizations
📝 Eligibility & Copays:
All enrolled Veterans may be eligible if they qualify for community care, meet the clinical criteria for the service, and the program is available in their area.
A copay may apply depending on your VA service-connected disability status and financial information. To learn your copay amount, contact your VA social worker or case manager and complete the Application for Extended Care Benefits (VA Form 10-10EC).

14 November is World Diabetes Day!
Diabetes can affect people at every stage of life, from childhood all the way to older age.
Prevention matters: according to the World Health Organization, lifestyle changes are the best way to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.
To help protect yourself and your loved ones, the WHO recommends:
- Reaching and keeping a healthy body weight
- Staying active—aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week
- Eating a healthy diet and avoiding sugar and saturated fat
- Not smoking to***co
Prevention and caring efforts should be integrated across all life stages.
Empowering well-being and self-care helps people with diabetes thrive at any age!

Honoring Our Veterans All Week Long
We’re dedicating the week to sharing helpful resources and programs available to Veterans through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Each day, we’ll highlight one way Veterans can access care, support, or benefits designed to improve their quality of life.
🕵️♂️Today’s Resource: Community Residential Care (CRC) 🕵️♂️
The Community Residential Care (CRC) program is for Veterans who don’t need hospital or nursing home care but can’t live alone due to medical or psychiatric conditions.
🏠 Veterans can live in approved homes—like Assisted Living, Personal Care, or Family Care Homes—where they receive:
Room, board, and limited personal care
Supervision and support with daily activities
Access to outpatient medical and mental health care through VA facilities
💰 Veterans pay for this care from their VA compensation, pension, Social Security, or other income sources.
This program allows Veterans to live safely and with dignity in a community setting of their choice, with VA oversight and ongoing health support.

Family caregivers rarely ask for help, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need it.
Sometimes, small gestures from friends, relatives, or neighbors can make a huge difference.
Here are a few ways you can lighten their load today:
🌼 Send them a meal or drop off coffee.
🚗 Offer to drive their loved one to an appointment.
📞 Call just to check in — not to ask for updates, but to ask how they’re doing.
🧺 Help with errands or chores they never get to.
💌 Leave a kind note, a flower, or even a small “thinking of you” card.
Caregivers give so much of themselves.
Let’s give something back. 💙
Tag or mention a caregiver you admire, and let them know they’re seen, valued, and appreciated.
