Proud that USG Wellness Affairs was able to bring Mental Health awareness into Orientation!
We are happy to announce an important mental health breakthrough! Beginning in 2016, all incoming freshmen will attend informative mental health awareness sessions during summer orientation and welcome week. At these sessions, students will hear from USC upperclassmen about the stresses and problems that students face on our campus. The health center staff will also inform students about the resources USC has available; for example, most students don't realize that the USC counseling services cost is covered by the Engemann Student Health Center fee that all students pay for!
This is a huge step in the right direction for mental health awareness on our campus. Special thank you to USG Wellness Affairs Director Christine Hasrouni and USC Orientation Services for making this positive change on our campus!
If you are interested in being a part of our continued advocacy work toward an improved mental health campus climate, come by our open forum next Wednesday: Voices of USC: The Mental Health Climate on Our Campus.
