Tom Morello officially deputized us as anti-fascist crime fighters, and was reinspired by local organizers, friends, and of course, Bernie Sanders. This November, vote YES on the Billionaire Tax.

SELA brings the heat to melt ICE. 💪🏼
We have to fight for what we deserve, even at the local level. Our communities deserve it and depend on it. I have some ideas for Cudahy. SELA, what do you envision as good, local policy that supports immigrants and other vulnerable communities?

Such an inspiring night on so many levels! Thank you to CAIR-LA for the invitation to your annual gala appropriately themed “Speaking Truth in the Face of Injustice” where we heard from some amazing honorees and guest speakers including my favorite Congresswoman, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and the team at Watermelon Pictures.
There was so much conversation about ally ship and how we must come together to support and protect one another even as folks coming from different backgrounds and communities. From doing the research and working on the ceasefire resolution with Councilwoman Daisy Lomeli, to supporting our divestment policy, to pushing back against attacks on our immigrant communities, I’m always honored to be in this fight with y’all! 💛

First Líder Congreso just wrapped up! I joined several of my Southeast Los Angeles colleagues and hundreds of Angelinos to strategize and learn from one another in this crisis we’re facing currently. Thank you to for the opportunity to share our wins in Cudahy with so many across the state of California.

Cuda-heyyyyyyyy! We just broke ground on an incredibly important project: a nearly 140-unit complex of affordable housing for seniors, healthcare facility, community center, rooftop community gardens, among so many other amenities. We started working on this project in 2018 (when I first got elected) and thanks to the amazing work of our staff, council, and so many partners, the project is becoming a reality. We’ve surpassed so many barriers including a worldwide pandemic and the many environmental hurdles forced upon communities like ours but we’re finally here.
It’s a new day in Cudahy. Thank you to , , LA County Development Authority, Housing Trust, and Prima Development for helping us get here.
