East West Players Theater for Youth presents Tam Tran Goes to Washington, an original play by Elizabeth Wong and directed by Rona Par.
Tam Tran, a quiet UCLA senior who prefers life behind her camera, faces her biggest challenge yet. As an undocumented student, she unexpectedly becomes an activist alongside her outgoing best friend, Cinthya Felix. When Congress invites Tam to testify for the DREAM Act in Washington, DC, her world turns upside down.

The film portrays a powerful and uplifting story about Carlitos, a young Mexican boy who travels across the border to search for his undocumented mother living and working in the U.S. The film illustrates how love requires sacrifice for the benefit of others and addresses the challenges faced by undocumented immigrants. The love between mother and son knows no boundaries. Grab your popcorn, settle in, and get ready to be transported to a mesmerizing tale of love and sacrifice.

Do you know a Spanish-speaking adult who wants to learn basic reading or writing in Spanish? Students will learn the sounds of the alphabet, read and write simple words, and learn writing skills in Spanish. For adults.
Tuesday, April 21, 2026, 4 - 6:30 pm.
The course is not a Spanish as a second language course and was designed for adults who never went to school or who attended for only 1 – 2 years. The program is held in person on the first floor of the building. For more information, please call the adult literacy staff at 562-367-0500.
