Be aware that we will be doing some vehicle extrication training this week at our Madawaska Lake station. That means that we will have two junk vehicles in the yard along 161 that we will be tearing apart for practice.

We just wanted people to know that these are not a result of an accident. These are used for training.

Big thank you to Mark‘s towing for helping us out again!

🔥 That Firewood Might Be Costing You More Than You Think!

As temperatures begin dropping, many households are firing up their woodstoves and fireplaces.

But did you know that burning green or unseasoned firewood can increase your risk of a chimney fire?

Freshly cut wood contains significant moisture. When burned, it produces cooler, smokier fires that can contribute to creosote buildup inside your chimney.

Creosote is combustible, and enough buildup can lead to a dangerous chimney fire.

Here’s how to stay safer:

🪵 Burn properly seasoned firewood, ideally with a moisture content below 20%.

🔥 Never burn trash, plastics, or treated lumber.

🏠 Have your chimney inspected annually and cleaned when necessary.

🚨 Install smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

A warm home should also be a safe home.

Do you heat your home with wood, pellets, oil, or something else? Tell us in the comments!
