Liberia, the 1825 Manassas house, is a touchstone to our nation’s history. It was the largest slave-holding plantation in Prince William County before the Civil War. It served as Confederate and Union headquarters during the Civil War, and hosted President Abraham Lincoln in 1862. It was a successful dairy farm and family home in the post-war years. Much of the house has been restored, including its Civil War graffiti, and work on its grounds continue. The house is open for special events and tours and the grounds are open for passive recreation from sunup to sundown.
