๐Ÿ‘‰ Fall is a ๐™œ๐™ง๐™š๐™–๐™ฉ time to TNR!
No extreme temps to deal with. A little less busy for TNR folks and clinics. Fewer nursing moms and newborns kittens compared to overwhelming summer months. Do not wait until you have pregnant moms and kittens running around. NOW is the perfect time make appointments and get on waiting lists.

โ€œNever adopt just one kitten.โ€

You may have heard that advice from shelters, rescues, or other cat owners.

But the reality is more complicated.

โ€œSingle kitten syndromeโ€ is not a medical diagnosis.

It is an informal term for behavior patterns some kittens may develop when they grow up without enough early social feedback from other cats.

Rough play.

Hard biting.

Ignoring boundaries.

Demanding constant attention.

Creating their own entertainment by destroying things.

The idea is that another kitten naturally teaches lessons humans are not very good at teaching.

โ€œThat bite was too hard.โ€

โ€œBack off.โ€

โ€œPlaytime is over.โ€

But here is the part that often gets lost:

Plenty of single kittens grow into perfectly well-adjusted cats.

A second kitten can help, but it is not the only answer.

Structured play, enrichment, consistent boundaries, and positive social experiences can make an enormous difference.

So adopting one kitten does not mean you made a mistake.

It may just mean you have a little more teaching to do.
