The dense Piney Woods surrounding Jefferson and Caddo Lake in far East Texas have produced decades of reports describing a large, upright, hair covered creature moving through the thick pine and cypress forest. The region's swampy terrain and limited road access have made it a longtime focus for cryptid researchers investigating Bigfoot style sightings in Texas.

Witnesses over the years have described everything from strange vocalizations echoing across the water at night to large humanlike footprints found in soft mud along the lakeshore, with no clear explanation from local wildlife. Several organized research groups have conducted expeditions in the area specifically because of how consistently the same details show up across unrelated reports.

Caddo Lake's cypress swamps remain some of the most remote and least explored terrain left in East Texas. What do you think it would take to actually prove something like this is out there?

“However, most Bigfooters that we spoke to are, in principle, against killing a Bigfoot. Craig Woolheater, the co-founder of the Texas Bigfoot Research Centre, the precursor to NAWAC, told us that, since the Bigfoot population is unknown, killing one ‘may doom a family group, you know? [It] may doom their population.’”

The hunt for Bigfoot sounds like the opposite of good science, but those pursuing the creature are often serious empiricists

For more than 25 years, I’ve worked to promote Jefferson, Texas, as one of America’s premier Bigfoot destinations. Through the Texas Bigfoot Conference, public art, tourism initiatives, and countless volunteer hours, we’ve helped bring thousands of visitors to our historic town.

Now it’s time to take the next big step.

Today, I’m excited to launch the GoFundMe campaign to establish the Texas Bigfoot Museum in Jefferson – Bigfoot Capital of Texas!

This museum will be created as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history, folklore, science, and culture surrounding one of the world’s greatest mysteries while creating a year-round attraction that benefits our entire community.

Imagine a place featuring:
👣 Historic Bigfoot evidence and exhibits
📚 Rare books, artifacts, and research archives
🎥 Interactive displays and multimedia presentations
🧒 Educational programs for families and schools
🌲 East Texas wildlife and folklore exhibits
🛍️ A unique gift shop supporting the museum’s mission

Most importantly, this museum will help drive tourism, support local businesses, create educational opportunities, and strengthen Jefferson’s identity as the Bigfoot Capital of Texas.

If you’ve ever attended the Texas Bigfoot Conference, visited Jefferson, followed Cryptomundo, or simply believe in preserving this fascinating subject for future generations, I hope you’ll consider supporting this project.

Every donation—large or small—moves us one step closer to opening the doors.

If you’re unable to donate today, you can still make a tremendous difference by sharing this post with your friends and fellow Bigfoot enthusiasts.

Together, we can build something that will benefit Jefferson and the cryptozoology community for generations to come.

Thank you for believing in this vision.
