Hello Crittenden County,
We would like to clarify the details of the upcoming election for Justice of the Peace District 7:
- Rickey McCauley's name will NOT appear on the ballot, though his name is featured in our graphic as the candidate running for Justice of the Peace District 7.
- Leroy Wright's name WILL appear on the ballot.
This is a unique situation that my office has not encountered before. Here is how this occurred:
During the November 2025 primary filing period, Leroy Wright filed to run for Justice of the Peace District 7 and ran unopposed in the March primary. Afterwards, he decided to step down from that race to run for Mayor of Anthonyville, a position he currently holds.
Due to the vacancy, the Democratic Central Committee (DCC) appointed Mr. McCauley to fill the position. While the DCC did not submit the paperwork in time to place Mr. McCauley’s name directly on the ballot, they met the deadline for him to run in the November election.
As a result, according to election statutes, the Election Commission voted to keep Leroy Wright’s name on the ballot as a placeholder. All votes cast for Mr. Wright will count toward Mr. McCauley.
Best regards,
Paula Brown
