🍀 Maya and Sadie traveled down south to Ames for the 2026 Youth Fest, “Connecting the Dots!” They’re gathering fresh ideas, learning new ways to engage youth, and finding inspiration to make our Cerro Gordo County 4-H programs even better! 💚

From hands-on activities to new opportunities for leadership, learning, and making connections, we’re excited to see what’s in store for our 4-H’ers!

💚🍀 National 4-H Week is the perfect time to celebrate the dedicated volunteers who make 4-H possible! From club leaders and project superintendents to fair volunteers and mentors, their time, talents, and passion help youth learn, grow, lead, and succeed. Thank you to all of our Cerro Gordo County 4-H volunteers for the countless hours you invest in creating meaningful experiences and shaping the next generation of leaders. 🍀 During National 4-H Week, we're celebrating our Clover Kids and their hands-on learning adventures! This week in Books for Cooks, youth learned how to prepare spaghetti and meatballs while practicing kitchen safety, following directions, and teamwork. Learning by doing has never tasted so good! 🍝

🍀 National 4-H Week Staff Spotlight! 🍀

You may have seen Maya Nalan, our County Youth Coordinator, in your classroom, at the library, at church, or out in the community! For the past six years, Maya has been helping Cerro Gordo County youth find their spark, try new things, and discover all that 4-H and Extension have to offer.

Maya is involved in a variety of youth programs, including Clover Kids, Pick a Better Snack, Kids in the Kitchen, Ricochet, STEM, 4-H Workshops, Read Across Iowa, Balanced Bookshelf, Green Thumb Club, and the North Iowa Fair, just to name a few!

Whether she's leading a hands-on activity, reading with kids, helping at the fair, or bringing a new program to the community, Maya is always looking for ways to connect with local youth. 💚
