☀️🐾 SUNNY DAYS ARE BETTER WITH A FOREVER FAMILY! 🐾☀️

💛 Meet Sunny, our little ray of sunshine who has been waiting WAY too long for her happily ever after! 💛

Sunny is an adorable 8-month-old Bully mix who has spent far too much of her puppyhood growing up behind shelter walls. 😢

Remember her brother Rambo? 🐶 When we shared his picture, y'all showed up and gave him the attention he needed! Now we're hoping his sister Sunny can get that same love and find a family of her very own! ❤️

Now, let's talk about Sunny's personality! 😂
☀️ She's playful, full of energy, and has a little bit of a BOSSY side! 👑

🐾 She enjoys playing with other dogs, but she plays ROUGH! Her ideal home would have a super dog-friendly dog who doesn't mind her rowdy wrestling matches, or she would be perfectly happy being the only four-legged princess in the house! A meet-and-greet with any potential doggy siblings is a must!
🦮 She walks on a leash and doesn't mind spending time in a crate.
💕 Most importantly, she's still just a puppy who needs someone willing to give her love, guidance, and a chance to grow into the wonderful dog we know she can be!

Sunny doesn't need a perfect family. She just needs the RIGHT family. ❤️

💔 Almost ONE YEAR in the shelter… 💔
It absolutely breaks our hearts to say that these two are approaching their one-year anniversary at the Animal Control Shelter. 😭
A year of watching other dogs come and go.
A year of sleeping in a kennel.
A year of waiting for someone to finally say, “You’re coming home with me.” 🏡🐾
They enjoy each other’s company, but they do NOT have to be adopted together. More than anything, we just want each of them to finally have a family and a home to call their own.
And right now, we desperately need adoptions. Until we can empty some kennels, our ability to help the next animals who need us is extremely limited.
🙏 This is where we need our community.

Meet Bugs, our handsome bunny who is officially looking for a forever home! 🏡💙

Bugs is around 2–3 years old and is looking for a family with bunny knowledge who understands that not every rabbit wants to be picked up and cuddled. Bugs prefers to keep all four paws on the ground! 😂

He may not want to be held, but he does enjoy gentle pets and being brushed. With the right person who understands his boundaries, we think Bugs will make a wonderful little companion.

Update on Winona this sweet girl found her forever family after all! 🥰 We wish you all the best, we just know you are going to have so many grand adventures!

Sweet little Winona is the LAST puppy from her litter still waiting for a home. Her siblings have found their families, and now it’s her turn! 🥺🐾

Sadly, black dogs in shelters are often overlooked and can wait longer to be adopted. We don’t want Winona to be one of them. Please help us flood Facebook with her sweet little face and find the family who has been waiting for her! 🖤

🐾 THURSDAYS ARE FOR TNR! 🐾

Today was a BIG day for our community cats! 🎉🐱

We made our biggest trip yet to Southern Pines Spay & Neuter Clinic, with 24 community cats getting spayed and neutered! ❤️

That’s 24 cats who will no longer contribute to the cycle of unwanted litters—and potentially hundreds of kittens prevented from being born into an already overcrowded community.
But we need YOUR help to keep making a difference! 👀🐾

If you live inside the City of McComb and are feeding or caring for community cats, please reach out to us. We want to work with you to make sure those cats are spayed or neutered through our TNR efforts.

You know your neighborhoods better than we do. You see the cats behind businesses, around apartment complexes, down side streets, and in colonies we may never know about without your help.

❤️ It truly takes a village—and we need your eyes in the community to make the biggest impact possible.

TNR doesn’t happen overnight, but every cat fixed means fewer kittens being born and a healthier community cat population.

🐾 MEET NACHO — BIG HEART, LITTLE LEGS! 💙

This handsome little guy is Nacho, and he may only weigh 19 pounds, but he has enough personality and love to fill a whole house! 🥰 We believe Nacho is a Rat Terrier mix around 3 years old.

Nacho is a bit of a talker when he’s kenneled and when he first meets you. 😂 He can also play a little game of “catch me if you can” while he’s getting comfortable with someone. But give him a little patience and time, and once Nacho decides you’re his person… you’ve got yourself a shadow! ❤️

He’s the kind of little dog who just needs someone willing to let him get to know them at his own pace. Once that bond is there, his big heart really starts to show.

🐾 Nacho’s adoption fee is $75, and he is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on preventions.

🐾 SO MUCH HAPPENS BEHIND THE SCENES…

Sometimes it may seem like we’ve been a little quiet on Facebook, but animal control never really gets quiet. We are working 7 days a week caring for the animals in our care, answering calls, and constantly trying to find ways to help the animals and our community.

We can’t share every story—but we couldn’t let this Sunday pass without giving some credit where credit is due. ❤️

Two weeks ago, Maxine was found lying in the middle of the road after being hit by a car. When she was picked up and brought into our care, we honestly weren’t sure if her little body was going to make it.

But Maxine had other plans. This little girl is a fighter. 💪🐶

Thanks to the generosity of the Trotter family, Maxine was able to be examined by a veterinarian. X-rays showed that she had a severely broken leg. We desperately wanted to give her a chance to keep it, and thanks to Dr. Nunnery Veterinary Hospital, Inc. , her leg was splinted and Maxine was placed with an amazing foster while she began healing.

Unfortunately, a week into treatment, we learned that the bone simply would not stay in place. At that point, the best option for Maxine—and the one that would give her the best quality of life—was to amputate the injured leg.

That’s when ASAP of McComb, MS stepped up. ❤️ They didn’t blink when they learned what Maxine needed or what it would cost. They simply said YES to giving this sweet girl the chance she deserved.

Maxine had her surgery Friday, and we are happy to say she is now officially on the road to recovery! 🥹🐾

Our next step is finding a foster home for Maxine for approximately 3 weeks while she heals. After that, this brave little three-legged girl will be ready to start the search for her forever family. 🏡❤️

Stories like Maxine’s remind us that animal control is never just one person or one organization. It takes veterinarians, fosters, supporters, donors, rescue partners, and a community willing to step up when an animal needs help.

We can’t save them without YOU.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in giving Maxine her second chance. Her story isn’t over yet—it’s just getting started. ❤️🐾
