It's that time of year again! We're asking for donations of bottled water for our firefighters. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Mark your calendars:
The LCFD has already responded to two fires today caused by fireworks. Please exercise caution and keep a water supply nearby.
Never throw used fireworks directly in the trash; instead, soak them in a bucket of water overnight (or for at least 24 hours) to ensure they are fully extinguished.
Keep a close watch on children and ensure that an adult is supervising and maintaining fire watch.

South Hunt County Fire Rescue we are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Deputy Chief Austin Cooley. His dedication and service to the community as a husband, father, officer, firefighter, and leader have left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the entire fire family during this incredibly difficult time. The impact he made on so many lives will undoubtedly be felt for years to come.
It is with great sadness that South Hunt County Fire Rescue announces the passing of Deputy Chief Austin Cooley. Chief Cooley passed away this morning in a motor vehicle accident returning home from work as a Kaufman Police Officer. Chief Cooley was an amazing Husband, Father, Officer, Firefighter and Leader. He worked tirelessly to serve the community and citizens of Hunt County and the City of Kaufman. He will be truly missed and the impact he made on so many lives will be felt long into the future. Join us in prayer for his family, friends and fire family.

We’ve been asked some questions concerning the ESD.
LCFD has a lot of questions too. Simplest answer is, it’s gonna take voting in the ESD for the board to be appointed by the county commissioners for the questions to by asked and answered by the board.
