BLUEBONNET SEED & TEXAS NATIVE MIX WILDFLOWER SEED NOW AVAILABLE!

The Collin County Soil & Water Conservation District is sponsoring a fall wildflower planting program during September and October. One-pound bags of scarified Texas Bluebonnet seed are available for purchase for $46 per pound. One-pound bags of Fall Texas native wildflower mix are available for $25 per pound and contain 22 different varieties, including Back-eyed Susan, coneflowers, Showy Evening Primrose, Indian Blanket, milkweeds and Mexican Hat.
Native flowers require less water and maintenance than conventional landscaping flowers and plants and can better withstand our sometimes extreme Texas climate. Wildflowers also add beauty to the landscape and provide food for wildlife. The Collin County SWCD uses funds raised from projects such as this to support local conservation programs and education within the District.
One-pound bags of wildflower seed are available for purchase at the District office, 1404 N. McDonald Street, Suite 100, in McKinney, now thru early November, or while supplies last. Please call before you come to make sure the seed is in stock at 972-542-0081 ext. 3. September and October are the optimal times to plant these wildflowers, and seeding instructions are available with purchases. Get yours now, while supplies last!

Collin-County Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service Mission:
To provide quality, relevant outreach and continuing education programs and services to the people of Texas.

Scope:
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is a member of The Texas A&M University System. Extension, with some 950 professional educators located at Texas A&M and at 12 district and 250 county offices, operates in a unique partnership with federal, state and county government to address the needs of people in every community. Extension provides education in food and fiber systems, environment and natural resources, family and consumer sciences, 4-H and youth development and community and economic development.

Goals:
Extension’s four-state goals are:
* Educate Texans to improve their health, safety, productivity and well-being.
* Educate citizens to improve their stewardship of the environment and Texas’ natural resources.
* Educate Texans to make decisions that contribute to their economic security and to the state’s economic prosperity.
* Foster the development of responsible, productive and self-motivated youth and adults.

Priorities:
Texas AgriLife Extension Service educational programs for 2012-2016 will focus on the needs and concerns identified with the input of local residents through the Leadership Advisory Board and Program Area Committees.

Relevance:
Extension education addresses the needs that Texans say are important to them and to their communities. County Leadership Advisory Boards and Program Area Committees work with their local Extension faculty to provide continuous input for planning and delivering programs in their communities. Extension utilizes other agency professionals and volunteers to present research-based information addressing the needs of Texans currently and in the years ahead.
