We’ve been patiently waiting for today, and now it’s time for the big reveal.

Let us introduce you to the 175 Stories for 175 Years Project!

You may already know that 2026 is the 175th anniversary of the YMCA in the United States. Call us sentimental, but nearly two centuries of impact deserve more than just cake and ice cream.

Since the beginning of the year, branches across our association have been collecting stories from members, program families, volunteers and generous donors to paint the biggest picture possible of what the YMCA is all about.

We set out to share 175 stories. It turned into 175+ because it was impossible to leave any of them out. New sets of stories will be highlighted weekly starting today through the end of the year.

We’re honored to share their voices with you now at ymcawichita.org/175stories.

What do you do when you feel so good about something, you just can't hold it in any longer?

Write a poem.

At least that's what Jan from our sister branch in Hutchinson did recently to celebrate the special relationship she's built with her trainer, Mindy Gloria.

Her words are fun, witty, relatable and reflective of how connections are at the heart of the YMCA:

I didn't want to exercise at the Y.
I'd rather stay home and eat pie, read books, paint, and pet cats!
But to improve balance and health, I had to face facts!
Mindy, my trainer, with lots of smiles
put Gary, Lori, and me through tricks from her files!
Mindy knows exercises for every body part.
Encouraging and challenging, she soon won my heart!
Week by week we carried weights through the halls.
"Superman" and "birddog" and throwing balls.
We moaned, laughed, bonded and sweat.
When we left class we were proud...and wet!
You know a thousand ways to exercise, You made our strength and balance rise!
Thank you, Mindy, you're an amazing athlete!
As trainer (and MOM) you can't be beat.

Group Instructor Highlight!!!

Emily has been at the YMCA for many years here in McPherson and she is great at what she does!

Stop by and join her classes. She teaches Cycle FUSION with Strength on Wednesdays at 8:00am and Bootcamp on Tuesdays at 8:00am.

Outside of teaching her classes, Emily is out here dominating on the Pickle Ball Court!!!

The YMCA of Topeka is now officially part of the Greater Wichita YMCA!

Hello Friends and Family!!!!

It is that time of year!!! HALLOWEEN is upon us. And the Directors of the McPherson YMCA have put together a Pumpkin Coloring Contest!!!

This contest is for all ages and will end on October 19, 2026 so we can vote to see who has the best coloring skills per their age group!

Stop by the McPherson YMCA, grab a coloring sheet at the front desk, take it home and complete the picture, bring it back and fill out the information on the back! We will then hold all pictures until voting day. The winners will win a lovely prize!!! Stay tuned!

Tomorrow (October 1, 2026) is our deadline to reserve a table for $1500 for a group of 10. After October 1, 2026, the price goes to $1750. Your table includes reserved seating plus additional food and beverages served table-side.
