Dear Teachers,
We were thrilled to celebrate teachers and the Shelby County A to Z picture book we created with all 150 of you yesterday!
We wanted a book that was rooted in literacy research that looked like and felt like the lives of our kids. We know that books that speak to their lives resonate and make it easier for kids to become engaged. This book will take your students through the people, places, and things in Shelby County that make our community amazing. Give them moments where they say, I've been there! Or make them say, I want to see that!
Each word was carefully selected by literacy experts because it's initial phoneme is just right for early readers. We also included a separate section for long vowels and digraphs.
At www.Shelbycountyatoz.com, you'll find the entire book online, so you can project it in your classrooms to read altogether. We also have printable flash cards, anchor charts, coloring sheets, and more. All online and free.
Teachers, we celebrate you, we thank you, and we know that kids learn to read so they can read to learn. You make the community better, one kid at a time. Happy Teacher Appreciation Day!
Please take a picture and tag us when you read the book with your students. Kifani Press Shelby County A to Z
