Happy Juneteenth from the Criminal Court Clerk’s Office! Juneteenth is a time to reflect on freedom, resilience, and the continued pursuit of justice and equality. Today, we honor history while reaffirming our commitment to fairness, dignity, and service to all.

Today, we proudly celebrate the fathers and father figures of our office. Their hard work, dedication, leadership, and commitment make a lasting impact not only in the workplace but also in the lives of those they love and support.

We are grateful for all they do each day and appreciate the example they set through their service, integrity, and dedication. Happy Father's Day to the incredible fathers and father figures on our team!

OFFICE CLOSURE: The Criminal Court Clerk's Office will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22, at 8 a.m.

Serving as your Criminal Court Clerk has been one of the greatest honors of my life. On my very first day in office, I requested a forensic audit because I believed accountability, transparency, and public trust had to be the foundation of everything we did. From there, our focus became simple: modernize the office, improve services, support our employees, and better serve the people of Shelby County.

Over the past eight years, we have worked tirelessly to transform the Criminal Court Clerk’s Office. Together, we developed a mobile app for clients and attorneys, implemented online payment options, enhanced the receiving, cataloging, and maintenance of property and evidence, and created new departments focused on records retention and mittimus review to reduce errors and improve efficiency.

We invested in our employees by increasing salaries, encouraging professional development, and promoting from within whenever possible. We worked to create a culture that was more professional, inclusive, and personal, one that valued both the public we serve and the dedicated employees who make that service possible.

We also focused on reducing barriers for those trying to move forward with their lives. We created programs to help individuals pay fines and fees, streamlined the expungement process, implemented automatic expungements, hosted 35 wraparound expungement clinics, and helped facilitate more than 10,000 expungements. These efforts opened doors for thousands of people seeking employment, housing, and a second chances.

I am especially proud that our commitment extended far beyond the courthouse walls. Our team participated in food drives, school supply collections, annual sack lunches for the unhoused, hygiene kit drives for women in domestic violence shelters, Christmas toy drives, sock and glove collections for the Union Mission, Meals on Wheels, and countless other community initiatives. We even assisted communities outside of Shelby County when we collected a semi-truck full of supplies for Nashville after they experienced a tornado and did the same for Covington who also experienced such a tragedy. Time and again, our team stepped forward to help others, and they have never ceased to make me proud.

In 2025, I was humbled to be recognized as Tennessee Clerk of the Year. While I am grateful for that honor, the true accomplishment has always been the work itself and the people who made it possible. I have consulted Clerks across Tennessee, sought best practices wherever they could be found, and continually pushed our office to pursue excellence. I served on state legislative, education and oversight committees to ensure Tennessee was served with integrity, equity and accountability.

No administration is perfect, and there is always more work to be done. But I leave this position with no regrets. We worked hard. We made meaningful progress. We challenged ourselves to think differently and serve better. The accomplishments listed here are only a portion of what we achieved together.

Most of all, I am grateful. Thank you to the constituents who believed in me, trusted me, and supported my vision for a better Criminal Court Clerk’s Office. Thank you to the employees who embraced change and dedicated themselves to public service. And thank you to the people of Memphis and Shelby County for giving me the opportunity to serve.

As my term ends, I want you to know that Memphis and Shelby County have always mattered to me. They always will.

Nothing brings people together quite like pizza! 🍕 During Judicial Conference Week, Criminal Court Clerk Heidi Kuhn provided lunch for staff, creating an opportunity for fellowship, laughter, and team building. We are grateful for moments like these that strengthen our workplace culture and celebrate the employees who serve Shelby County each day.

💜 United for Alzheimer's Awareness 💜

Today, the Criminal Court Clerk's Office came together in purple to show our support for those affected by Alzheimer's disease and to help raise awareness about a condition that impacts millions of individuals and families.

By wearing purple, we stand in solidarity with caregivers, advocates, and those living with Alzheimer's while helping spark conversations about the importance of research, education, and support.

Today we celebrated our staff members who reached 5, 10, 15, and 25 years of service. Thank you for your dedication, commitment, and the contributions you make every day. Congratulations on these incredible milestones!
