SO TRUE!!!!!

Memphis and Shelby County ANIMAL ABUSERS get a FREE PASS.....

and it is up to us to make sure this does not happen again.

I have attended animal neglect and cruelty cases since 2008. I have testified. I have provided evidence to the prosecution. Courtroom after courtroom, before judge after judge, with prosecutor after prosecutor. I have seen judges who are fair and some who are not. I have watched prosecutors doing their best to get justice for the animals because the animals are the voiceless victims. I have also seen prosecutors who, for whatever reason, do not care. They come unprepared and clearly believe an animal case is beneath them. They come to a case wanting to orchestrate a plea deal because they're busy and animal cases waste their time or they are lazy or, even worse, they do not believe a human should be held accountable for what happens to an animal. I've seen prosecutors dig for the truth and prosecutors ignore mountains of evidence.
Sadly, this appears to be what happened recently in the worst, the absolute worst, case I have seen with the most evidence presented to the prosecutor including five citizen eyewitnesses, first responders who requested counseling after seeing the abuse, over a hundred photographs taken before and after the abuse that clearly established pattern, neighbor complaints of noise and stench that were made and ignored for years. Not one eyewitness was interviewed. No follow-up by the prosecutor. None.
The case resulted in numerous charges.
The case was reset twice.
There was not a trial, either before a judge or a jury.
EVERY single charge was nol prossed.
Nol prossed means the prosecutor declines to pursue the case. If done without prejudice the case can be reopened and the charges refiled. If done with prejudice, the charges are dropped permanently.
I have no idea if this was done with or without prejudice as the case "prosecutor" will not answer my email.

I believe EVERY Memphis and Shelby County animal advocate should email Steve Mulroy, Shelby County District Attorney ([email protected]) and request a dedicated prosecutor for animal neglect and cruelty. DA Mulroy had appointed former Judge Donna Fields to this position but she died and a replacement has not been appointed.

TO BE CLEAR, DA Mulroy was NOT the prosecutor on this case. It was assigned to an assistant district attorney general. I spoke with the case "prosecutor" before the dismissal. I don't know his reasoning for not pursuing this case. He stated it was a hard case to make. My reply was that, through the years, I had seen hundreds of cases with much less evidence fully prosecuted.
I do not know which category of prosecutor he falls into: does not care, too busy, lazy, feels animal cases are beneath him or just not a good prosecutor. Could be one or a combination of all.

WHAT I KNOW.....
Memphis and Shelby County deserves a dedicated animal cruelty prosecutor. Memphis and Shelby County animals DESERVE a dedicated prosecutor. One who will dig, interview, review all evidence and find the truth. Not one who is ready to make a deal because it is "too hard" to do his job...

Please LIKE and SHARE this post.

DEFINITELY email Shelby County District Attorney General Steve Mulroy and respectfully request the appointment of a qualified and dedicated animal cruelty prosecutor, because ANIMALS DESERVE the PROTECTION of the LAW.

CAA hopes the HSUS, or whatever they're named now, does NOT stand up for this former NFL alleged dogfighter as they did for Vick. Under Pacelle the HSUS went to bat for Vick saying he was redeemed and would do a good job as a pet owner.

CAA is absolutely appalled (sadly not surprised) that Memphis Animal Services and the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County FAILED to broadcast advice to the public or post anything on their pages about how to protect pets during the inclement weather.
Wow...just wow.
If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for your pet, so keep your animals inside. If left outdoors, pets can freeze, become disoriented, lost, stolen, injured or killed. In addition, don’t leave pets alone in a car during cold weather, as cars can act as refrigerators that hold in the cold and cause animals to freeze to death. Pound on your car hood before starting in case an animal sought protetion and warmth on the engine. Fresh water, plenty of food, shelter that offers protection from the wind and elements and straw for bedding if the pet must be outside.

IT IS EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULT...
EVERYONE'S BUT HIS.

The currently "on leave while under investigation" MAS director Ty Coleman felt it appropriate to recently make a post singing his praises.
When it wasn't welcomed with open arms by animal advocates he deleted the post. Good thing CAA took screenshots.
See screenshots in comments.
