Our mission is to help others help themselves. We work to relieve hunger, empower men/women, counsel the vulnerable and teach the tools for success.

Be Free Revolution (BFR), founded by Britney Lee Christie and Lacey Pease Stluka, is a Memphis based organization dedicated to helping others help themselves. In July 2011, Britney led a mission team with a local church to Kenya and Lacey was a member of her team. While on mission, they became heavily burdened with situations of rape, children not able to decipher what love meant, adults unable to

This moment says it all.

Last year at Ignite Camp, Chris Simba made the decision to be baptized.

For many of us, baptism is something we can access through a local church at almost any time. But for many of the children we serve in Kenya, opportunities for discipleship, mentorship, community, and public declarations of faith are much harder to come by. Camp creates space for all of those things.

Chris lives in Kibera and has grown up in the BFR family. His older brother, Isaac, attended camp as a BFR kid & Scholar and today, he is a successful chef in training at the Ritz-Carlton Maasai Mara. What a beautiful reminder of what can happen when children are given support, opportunity, and people who believe in them.

This year, we want Chris back at camp.

A place where he can continue growing in his faith, build friendships, be encouraged by mentors, and be reminded that God has a purpose for his life.

Would you consider helping support Chris Simba’s camp experience this year? It costs $350 to send Chris to camp.

Every gift helps create space for another life-changing encounter with God.

Meet John Mark and Joseph.

These two brothers share a bond that is impossible to miss. The moment you see them together, you see the joy, laughter, and deep love they have for one another.

Life has taken them on different paths, and because they live in different places for school, they don’t get to spend much time together throughout the year. But every year, there is one place they know they will be reunited: Ignite Camp.

During camp, they get to simply be brothers.

They laugh together. Play together. Eat meals together. Worship together. Pray together. Make memories together.

While camp is a life-changing experience for so many of our students, for John Mark and Joseph it is also an opportunity to be together. It is a reminder that no matter where life takes them, they still belong to one another.

This year, we need help getting them to camp.

Would you consider funding one or both of these brothers for camp? Your gift does more than provide transportation, meals, and activities. It creates space for connection, belonging, faith, and memories that will last long after camp ends.

The cost to send a student to camp is $350.

If you’d like to help John Mark and Joseph experience another summer together at Ignite Camp, we’d be incredibly grateful.

Give today and help make this reunion possible.

We are about HALFWAY to getting our kids funded for Ignite Camp and we need YOUR HELP!

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate 10 years of camp. For the past decade, camp has been a place where our students encounter God, build community, grow in confidence, and simply have space to be kids.

For many of our students, this is one of the most impactful weeks of the entire year. It is a chance to step away from daily hardships, be surrounded by encouragement, learn more about God, and experience joy, friendship, and belonging.

We cannot do this without your support. Every sponsorship helps make camp possible for a child who otherwise may not have the opportunity to attend.

Would you consider helping send a student to camp this year?

The count down is ON!!!! Ignite Camp is officially one month away and we could not be more excited. Every year, camp becomes a place where students encounter the love of God, build deep friendships, grow in confidence and leadership, and are reminded that their lives matter deeply!!!

Right now, we are preparing transportation, lodging, meals, activities, supplies, and all the details that help create a meaningful and life changing week for these students and we need your help to make it happen.

There are several ways you can give toward camp:
$350 covers one full camp experience
$50 helps cover transportation costs
$25 helps provide extra activities at camp like go carts and roller skating- things they never get the chance to do!

Any amount helps us create a space for our kids to be known, encouraged, discipled, and cared for

You can give through

-Venmo
-or by messaging us directly for giving information.

Thank you for helping us continue this work and invest in the next generation in Kenya.

CAMP IS COMING. 🔥

And this year is extra special as we celebrate TEN YEARS of Ignite Camp in Kenya!

Ignite is more than just a camp. It is a space where kids experience joy, belonging, discipleship, leadership, adventure, friendship, worship, laughter, amazing warm meals, and the love of God in tangible ways.

For many of our students, camp becomes a pivotal moment in their story — a place where confidence is built, purpose is discovered, friendships are formed, and hearts are reminded they are deeply seen, loved, and valued.

This year, 75 BFR Kids and Scholars, our Kenyan staff, and 17 U.S. team members will gather together for four unforgettable days of connection, growth, fun, and encounter.

As we celebrate 10 years of Ignite, we would love your help in making camp possible:
🔥 Camp fees for students
🔥 Transportation to and from camp
🔥 Special camp activities and experiences

We truly cannot do this without you.

If Ignite has impacted you before, you already know how meaningful this week is. If you haven’t experienced it yet, we hope you can catch a glimpse of why we believe camp is one of the best times of the year.

Thank you for helping us create spaces where kids can encounter family, belonging, and the love of God. ❤️

This year feels like a celebration - a milestone.
We’re heading back to Kenya for Ignite Camp June 20-30, marking 10 years of camp and 15 years of going with BFR. What started years ago continues to grow and we’re so expectant and excited for what’s ahead and what God has in store!

Going has never just been something we do. It’s a lifestyle of leaning in, following the Lord, and positioning ourselves to hear from Him… on the field, at home, in the quiet, and in the action.

Our prayer for 2026 is Living a Legacy.

Last year, we learned what it means to honor the legacy set before us. This year, we step into living it out.

Ways you can support camp:
-Grab some popcorn through Double Good: 50% goes toward sending kids to camp- link in profile (ends May 1st)
-Send a student to camp for $350 via Venmo () or the link in our profile
-Praying for our kids and our team as we prepare

BFR Family- let’s rally together

This week, a fire broke out in Kibera that burned Clause and Kelsey’s home to the ground. We are incredibly grateful that no one was injured, but in a matter of moments they lost all of their everyday belongings.

They do have a safe place to stay, but they need help rebuilding the everyday essentials for their family- clothes, school supplies, textbooks, shoes, and basic necessities to move forward.

Our goal is $500, and every gift will go directly toward restoring what was lost.

🎄 A Christmas to Remember with Our BFR Kids & Scholars 🎄

During the Christmas Holiday, our BFR Kids and Scholars gathered at Pehucci Chidlren’s Home for a truly special Christmas experience, one filled with joy, laughter, worship, and togetherness.

They shared a beautiful feast, played, were inspired by encouraging teachings, worshiped side by side, and experienced the delight of shopping for gifts- picking something meaningful of their own choosing.

It was a day marked by the beauty of our blended family, celebration, gratitude and deep joy.

Our hearts are full as we reflect on the words of our staff member, John Ndichu:
“Yesterday was a very special Christmas experience with the BFR kids at Pehucci. Everything went well, and we are truly grateful. We captured beautiful moments with videos and pictures of them playing together, cooking, worshipping, and eating together. It was a day full of joy, laughter, love, and family. The children were happy, engaged, and excited, and the Christmas spirit was clearly felt throughout the day.”

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Christ Church at Grove Farm. Your congregation’s generosity made this entire experience possible. Because of you, our kids experienced not just gifts, but presence, love, and the reminder that they are deeply seen and valued.

Thank you to everyone who helped create memories that will last far beyond this Christmas season.
This is the beauty of community, and we are so grateful. Merry Christmas and happy new year from our family to yours!!!!!

🎄 Sponsor a Sibling. Strengthen a Future. 🎄

In Kenya’s largest slum, many of our BFR Scholars are working hard to break cycles of poverty through education and job opportunities. But when they graduate and begin earning income - they often contribute in financially supporting their siblings who cannot attend school.

This slows their own progress in beig financially independent and their younger siblings remain stuck.

Help us create change through sponsoring a sibling! You’re not just sending a child to school, you’re unlocking freedom for our Scholars to move forward into independence while ensuring their brothers and sisters have a consistent path in education, discipleship, and hope.

This week we are praying over these 5 siblings of BFR Scholars to get sponsorship.

1. Martha & Mary: These sisters are determined students who attend Toi Primary School. Martha (class 4) began school late due to financial difficulties, and Lucy (class 8) has been working hard to stay on track in her studies.

2. Queency: A bright and hopeful 17-year-old in her final year of high school who dreams of becoming a nurse. She is coming into her final term where she will take her KSCE, and sponsorship will help her stay in school, finish strong, and pursue the future she’s working so hard for.

 3. Dotty: A bright 19-year-old who recently completed her national exams and is eagerly waiting for her results. She dreams of continuing her education, but needs assistance in pursuing her next level of education.

4. Doreen: A dedicated student at St. Angela’s Girls in Kitui. Born and raised in the Kibera slums, she worked hard through primary school, scoring an impressive 358 marks. Now entering Form 3, she is determined to keep progressing.
