On Thursday, May 14, Memphis City Council Chairwoman Jana Swearengen-Washington spoke at the Ribbon-Cutting ceremony for Memphis Light, Gas & Water’s new Emergency Preparedness Information Center (EPIC). This mobile unit is designed to serve as MLGW’s mobile command center, providing customer service support and real-time information to the community. , ,

At its May 12 Regular Meeting on Tuesday afternoon, the Memphis City Council recognized Teacher Appreciation week, and honored teachers chosen by each Councilmember. The Council passed a Resolution commending Memphis teachers “for their outstanding leadership, dedication, and invaluable contributions to education and the community.”

On Monday, members of the Memphis City Council met with Members of Mayor Young’s Administration for a Working Session on the FY27 Budget. The session gave Councilmembers an opportunity get an overview of Divisions’ Budgets before next week’s Budget Hearings.
